I write as a constituent, a parent, and a 54-year-old survivor of child abuse.

The Minister for Justice, yesterday, sent a message that adults have more right to touch children's bodies, than children have to their bodily autonomy.

He suppressed a campaign by Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, demanding its removal no doubt under threat of their funding.

And he announced it all on a platform infested with bots, racists and child abusers; where the AI's USP is the creation of illegal sex abuse material.

Not only does this suppression, and his deeply ill-judged public messaging, send the wrong message to vulnerable children (that they CANNOT say no to unwanted touch), it also gives adults who have paedophillic intentions carte blanche to abuse at will.

I refuse to believe, in a country like Ireland where child abuse has been rife for generations, that none of you have been personally affected by paedophilia, either directly or within close circles. We all have.

Accordingly, I expect you to stand up for children immediately, and force an apology and change of tack from the Minister.

Solensia is a miracle. Fluffy (19) who has hated the box, car and vet all her life, actually now gives an approval chirp when she knows we are going. I'd have to let her go if Solensia didn't exist.

Living in Ireland has made me disabled (no access to care) and they would punish me for it. I can't "great-grandfather" in because he never accepted the fight for 32 counties was over and had to hide from state persecution (kids registered under false names, can't find my relevant certificates).

Fluffy has always vocalised her approval with chirps. Yesterday, for the first time in her 19 years, she chirped at the vet's front door. I need question no more whether monthly vet visits, dreaded car rides and the expense of Solensia injections are worth it for her. She approves.
