Kristi Noem didn’t approve FEMA rescue teams for over 72 hours after the Texas floods, following a rule she imposed that required her personal sign-off on any operation over $100K. This is inexcusable. She should resign.

And not long ago lobotomies were forced onto women who weren't pleasant enough.

Revealed: Saudi Arabia's secretive rehabilitation 'prisons' for disobedient women

Girls and young women describe facing flogging and abuse in so-called 'care homes' after arguing with their fathers or husbandsyoung woman wearing a black A abaya is pictured in a city in north-west Saudi Arabia standing precariously on a second-floor window ledge. A second photograph shows a group of men escorting her down with the help of a

crane.

The woman's identity is unknown, but she was allegedly being held at one of Saudi Arabia's notoriously secretive "jails" for women banished by their families or husbands for disobedience, extramarital sexual relations or being absent from home.

It was a rare glimpse of the plight of hundreds or more girls and young women believed to be held in such facilities, where they are "rehabilitated" so they can return to their families.Speaking out in public or sharing footage of these "care homes", or Dar al-Reaya, has become impossible in a country where voices on women's rights appear to have been silenced. But over the past six months, the Guardian has gathered testimony about what it is like inside these institutions, described as "hellish", with weekly floggings, forced religious teachings and no visits or contact with the outside world.

Conditions are reported to be so bad that there have been several cases of suicide or attempted suicide. The women can spend years locked up, unable to leave without the permission of their family or a male guardian.

"Every girl growing up in Saudi knows about Dar al-Reaya and how awful it is. It's like hell. I tried to end my life when I found out I was going to be taken to one. I knew what happened to women there and thought 'I can't survive it'," says one young Saudi woman who later managed to flee into exile.

Maryam Aldossari, a Saudi activist based in London, says: "A yWhile Saudi Arabia celebrates being awarded the Fifa men's World Cup and meticulously promotes itself on the global stage as reformed, women who have dared to publicly call for more rights and freedoms have faced house arrest, jail and exile. Activists say the country's care homes are one of the regime's lesser-known tools for controlling and punishing women, and want them to be abolished.

Saudi officials have described the care homes, which were set up across the country in the 1960s, as providing "shelter for girls accused or convicted of various crimes" and say they are used to "rehabilitate the female inmates" with the help of psychiatrists "in order to return them to their

Oh the reply hits
r/relationship_advice u/Spotlestomato 12h

I (26F) turned my (28M) partner into a parasite and now I resent him for it

I'm a naturally giving person, meaning I do all I can to satisfy my partners. Long day at work? I'll take off your shoes and rub your feet. Your favorite band is in the city? I got us tickets already don't mention it. You ask me to come over? I brought your favorite snacks and drinks. You're coming over? I made you food and rented your favorite movie.

I can't help it. I grew up poor, I never had a room of my own... not even a bed. I know what it's like to go to bed with an empty stomach and pretend to be on a diet so people don't notice that you actually can't afford lunch. So when I love someone, I do everything I can to make their lives easier. My partner comes from a neglect single mother who ended up passing at a young age. It took a very long time for him to even feel comfortable enough to share anything that was going on with his life because that's what he wasSomeone who would have his back when needed and someone who I could rely on as well. But somehow, now I'm having to pick up and drop him off everywhere because he can't afford his car anymore. Sometimes he'll ask me to stop at the drive thru and after ordering, pretend to be on his phone and expect for me to pay. Last week, he asked me to send him an Uber because his card declined and he had a shift to go to. I picked him up once he got out and to my surprise, he asked if we could make a stop at Walmart because he was in the mood for snacks... with what money, mine? Writing it down I'm embarrassed and to an extent guilty that maybe I'm overreacting but it's just the fact that things that were meant as a gesture or favor suddenly became expected and none of them are reciprocated... sometimes not even thanked for.

The thing is, I could blame this entirely on him, but this is not the first partner that changes entirely after I act caring towards them. My last partner did the same thing tPsychologicalPilot21 11h

You've been loving people in the way you wished someone had loved you, so fully, selflessly, without condition. That instinct comes from a good place, but it's also tied to survival. You learned that you need to earn people's love by proving yourself, and anticipating their needs before they're voiced. And because of that, you keep attracting people who are drawn to your emotional labor but not ready to match it.

You're just giving so much that they don't have to step up. That's not on you, but it is on you to stop allowing it.

Going forward, stop leading with how much you can give. Lead with how much they're willing to meet you halfway. Pay attention to who shows up without being asked, and takes initiative, and offers. And when someone reveals they're comfortable benefiting from your care without reciprocating it, believe them, and walk away. You're not here to fix anyone. You're here to be loved properly.

If this keeps happening, it might be time to refl

🚨 Stay Prepared, Stay Empowered! We’ve created a Citizen Guide to help you navigate extreme situations like Martial Law- not to alarm, but to inform. 🌐💡Again - not sounding an alarm, just informing. Print it out or save it offline so you can access it anytime, even without the internet.
1. Introduction to Martial Law
What is Martial Law?
Martial law is the temporary imposition of direct military control over civil functions or the suspension of civil law. Governments may declare martial law during emergencies such as natural disasters, war, or civil unrest. However, misuse of martial law can undermine democratic rights and civil liberties.
Legal Foundations of Martial Law:
In many countries, martial law can only be declared under specific conditions and often requires approval from the legislative branch. In the United States, for example, the Posse Comitatus Act limits the use of federal military personnel in enforcing domestic policies.
Potential Misuses of Martial Law:
Throughout history, martial law has been misused to consolidate power, suppress dissent, and restrict civil freedoms. Citizens should be aware of their rights and prepared to respond to unlawful declarations of martial law.
2. Historical Examples of Martial Law
- United States (1863): President Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War.
- Poland (1981): Martial law used to suppress political opposition, leading to mass protests.
- Philippines (1972): Marcos declared martial law, leading to human rights abuses.
- Myanmar (2021): Military coup imposed martial law, sparking international condemnation.
- South Korea (2024): President Yoon declared martial law in response to escalating tensions. [Read More](https://www.csis.org/analysis/yoon-declares-martial-law-south-
korea3. Understanding False Flag Events
A false flag event is an act committed to appear as though it was carried out by another party, often used to justify extreme government measures.
Historical Examples:
- Reichstag Fire (1933): Used by Nazi Germany to consolidate power.
- Gulf of Tonkin Incident (1964): Led to increased U.S. involvement in Vietnam.
4. Citizen Response to Illegally Declared Martial Law
Legal Actions:
- Consult constitutional lawyers and civil rights groups.
- File lawsuits to challenge unlawful orders.
- Document human rights violations with time-stamped evidence.
Community Organization:
- Build local support networks for food, shelter, and information.
- Establish safe meeting points and alternative evacuation routes.
- Organize peaceful protests and advocacy campaigns.5. Why Decentralized Networks Matter
In times of crisis, especially under martial law or internet blackouts, centralized communication channels may be censored, monitored, or shut down. Decentralized networks allow for peer-to-peer communication, protecting privacy and ensuring information flow even when traditional channels are compromised.
**Setting Up Now is Crucial:**
- Pre-install decentralized apps and tools.
- Familiarize yourself with offline communication methods.
- Establish local communication groups using decentralized platforms.
Recommended Platforms:
- **Briar**: An app that uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, even without internet access. [Briar Website](https://briarproject.org)
- **Mesh Networks**: Establish local networks that bypass centralized control.
- **Serval Mesh**: Designed for disaster scenarios, allowing phones to communicate without infrastructure. [Serval Project) (https://www.servalproject.org)
- **goTenna Mesh**: A popular off-grid communication tool using small devices that pair with smartphones. [goTenna Website](https://www.gotenna.com)
- **TOR & VPNs**: Mask identity and evade government firewalls.
- **The Onion Router (TOR)**: A highly secure browser that anonymizes internet activity. [TOR Project] (https://www.torproject.org)
- **ProtonVPN**: A widely trusted VPN service with a strong commitment to privacy.
[ProtonVPN](https://protonvpn.com)
- **Mastodon**: A decentralized social media platform that allows users to communicate without centralized servers. [Mastodon Website](https://mastodon.social)
- **Session**: A decentralized messaging app with end-to-end encryption. [Session
Website](https://getsession.org)6. Emergency Actions Checklist
- Stockpile essential supplies (food, water, medicine).
- Back up important documents and store in a secure location.
- Establish encrypted communication channels with family and community.
- Know your legal rights and how to contact civil liberties organizations.
