I am decommissioning the toolsforthought .social Mastodon server, and taking the opportunity to test moving my boris @ tft account to my main atproto account. This should happen somewhat automatically thanks to @anew.social's Bounce service bounce.anew.social

Finally, Bounce (@anew.social) builds crucial infrastructure — making it easy for users to shift between the two biggest open social web protocols, ActivityPub (which powers Mastodon) and AT Protocol (which powers Bluesky.)

Connecting protocols is hard, complicated work. But somebody's gotta do it 💪🏼
Bridgy (and its parent A New Social) exists to help make the individual protocols less important: everyone should be able to collaborate with everyone else regardless of which platform they’re using. It’s the kind of thing that feels easy in the moment — but as this post proves, it’s far from simple under the hood.

On atmospheric generatives…
How can we build moats on an open network? How can we make money when all the data's free? Here, I sketch some ideas for new generatives — contextualization, fluidity, aggregation, and relationality — for value creation in the atmosphere.

The true secret sauce of Bridgy Fed: That it doesn’t just bridge Mastodon and Bluesky, it also bridges them both to and from the IndieWeb. And what’s the IndieWeb? At its core it’s POSH (Plain Old Semantic HTML), with some added WebMention on top. You can even make it work with a static site!

Your Leaflets now distribute via atproto / @standard.site, RSS, *and* email all at once. And if your Atmosphere account is bridged via Bridgy fed, you're also distributing via ActivityPub. Why would you ever need Substack when it barely does half of that *and* locks you in? It's time to switch 🍃

Very cool to see Bridgy Fed featured in the latest @eff.org piece 🙏🏼
Bridging is an important facet of POSSE, but also something more people should consider, even if they don’t run their own websites. For example, if you don’t want to create a Threads account just to interact with your one friend who uses that platform, you shouldn’t have to. The good news is, you don’t. There are several bridging services, like Fedisky, RSS Parrot, and pinhole, but Bridgy Fed is currently the simplest to use, so we’ll focus on that.
