I watched Naza last night. I have never been in a cinema audience where you could feel such palpable shock as the film ended. The room was stunned into silence. No one had any words. I hope it is watched as widely as possible.

My old boss has asked me to give his new book a social media bump, because he has wisely chosen never to set up his own account! So I’m happy to announce that ‘Britain’s Slave Traders: A Hidden History’ is available today in all good bookshops! www.penguin.co.uk/books/460026...

A burnished morning here in Copenhagen.
The sea at Svanemøllen Strand, Copenhagen on a clear late September morning. A light mist cloaks docks in the distance. Everything is burnished in a beautiful bronze light.

The porcelain head & limbs of a tiny doll laid next to an infant girl buried under what is now Hans Tavsen Park, København, in the later C19th. Uncovered, side by side, their remains echoed each other almost perfectly. Amongst the city's poorest, someone made sure she had her doll. #grief

How will the spreading use of AI as a tool in research, including historical research, impact the writing of those of us who won’t use it? Not just our research and writing processes but, in particular, the texture of the prose we produce on the page. 1/2

This stuff is just incredibly stupid. Why on earth should the Chancellor do any such thing, just because the Tories demand it? As for the papers, they shouldn't be giving it the time of day, let alone a headline. It's not news and it's not a story.
A headline from the Guardian (17/09/26) that reads "Tories challenge Chancellor to rule out tax rises in Budget as Badenoch labelled 'embarrassment for Bank of England gaffe."

Got to sit last night with a refugee family and hear them tell their stories; of why and how they became refugees and of the incredible lives they are building now and I can't help but feel that if more people got and took the chance to do this, we might as societies suck less at helping people.

Maybe not the *best*, but I thought I would share Thoravej 29, a repurposed factory in Copenhagen's Nordvest. In this shot, we see how the concrete floors have been cut through and canted down to form broad staircases (and let light flood through).
