Ignoring threats is not always the way but maybe there would be fewer threats if we took the time to sit down with a good book.
Armed aliens in space suits threatening approach a young woman who calmly ignores their hostility to read a park. The setting appears to be a park based on the red bench and pastoral background.

Exactly one week from today I will be hosting @charmcityspec.bsky.social with these amazing authors. It's free, it's spectacular, and it's fictional! Plus, we got free door prizes and maybe... surprises!
Charm City Spec is a quarterly speculative reading series. This billboard includes the authors who will be reading: Mary G. Thompson, James Simmons, Justin C. Key, Riley Black, Rutendo Chidzodo. The event will take place at the Ivy Book Shop in Baltimore on Friday September 25th at 6:00pm.

I don't know if I've ever copy-posted spam before, but these tickled me (foot pun probably intended.)
A cute idea for a pair of socks. They're green. On the right foot a woman sits with a book in her hands as she is reading. On the left foot, an open book lies under the caption "Shhh... I'M READING."

You won't be able to see me at #WorldCon this year, but you can see my novella, Hornytown Chutzpah. It's at the Atthis Arts table alongside @slashnburnett.bsky.social Ex Partum (which is wonderful) Congrats to all the writers, illustrators, editors, and industry folk. Have the best time!

My novella's at #Worldcon. Okay, it's in the vending room. Still, that's kinda cool, ain't it? I still Hornytown Chutzpah with its silly shlump of a super soaker toting, Manischewitz spritzing detective. Go So! Go Urrie! Go Greenie, Bernie, and Margie! Boo on Ronald Hart.

Thanks! I'll start. The Skiffy and Fanty Show described Hornytown Chutzpah as Who Framed Roger Rabbit but with demons. @princejvstin.com said it read like " like something Poul Anderson could have cooked up with Stainslaw Lem." bookshop.org/p/books/horn...

My friend @philmargolies.bsky.social just found this review of Hornytown Chutzpah and passed it on to me. :D sovay.dreamwidth.org/1671136.html...
I haven't read a hardboiled yarn with its own Yiddish glossary since Leo Rosten's Silky! A Detective Story (1979) and since neither it nor its sequel King Silky! (1981) features sheydim, Andrew Hiller's Hornytown Chutzpah (2026) has the slight advantage along with the tikkun olam. I would cheerfully follow the further adventures of its wise guy and his demons through the suburb between Hell and D.C. I read the novella this evening in a medically recommended bath.

So, I've gotten pushback on this cover. Heck, I should... I hand painted it. But its energy, its rawness, it color palette is something makes me happy. I don't want a mass manufactured cover and I sure as hell don't want an AI cover.
The cover for Hornytown Chutzpah was hand painted using acrylic paint. It features a detective carrying a super soaker filled with Manischewitz surrounding by demonic water balloons.

This is the Monument to the Great Fire of London. I am glad they did not make it out of wood. Seriously though, it is impressive and I like the way it is framed and backlit.
The monument to London’s Great Fire is a tall spire. It is nestled between two neoclassical buildings. The monument is backlit with the sun directly behind the structure.

Still tickled that 2026 Hugo Award winner Jennifer Hudak wrote a blurb specifically for imy novella's glossary. It reads "(Hornytown Chutzpah's) glossary is fantastic. I love it!"

The blurb is on a gray black wall that has been spritzed with Manischewitz. A cartoon Sol and Urrie stand near. Either might have done it.

@marissalingen.bsky.social Dubious Clamor celebrates doubt and to my surprise I am here for it! It a world where everyone is so loud, argumentative, and certain something about a narrative about the virtues of doubt is charming me. Let's cut away our dogmatic certainty and listen to one another.
