The #WIPSnips word for October 8th is "lizard" Weirdly, I do have lizard in Atlas Rising Anderson vs hell #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
Anderson left Esme, who was now taking a picture of a seagull that had just landed on the glass balcony, about a foot away from her. The thing was fucking huge.
Who knew.
Anderson made her way through the vape and cigarette smoke, and the stench of too much alcohol, to the wooden outdoor bar. She arrived just as a topless man in shorts, with a lobster-red back and a large lizard tattoo on one arm, moved away from the bar with four pints of beer clutched in his massive fingers. He swayed as he walked.
Anderson gave him a wide berth.
She ordered two beers, which came in large plastic cups, and made her way back.
‘You’re in hell, aren’t you?’ Esme took one of the beers off her.

🧛‍♂️ A Gentleman's Tour of the Empire 🦇 No lizard, so vibes 😉 #wipsnips #writesky #writingcommunity #vampire
A chilling howl, which could only have come from the wolf, reverberated through the whole tower.

“Has he let it out?” cried Jo. She tried to stand, but her legs buckled under her.

Edwards bent down and scooped Jo into a bridal carry. She looped her arms about his neck to permit the rescue, but it was clear to him at once that this was only because she had no option. Her face, inches from his own, curdled into a sneer of such reptilian malevolence that he almost dropped her in fright.

Madness is about right! IMDB has a score thing that tracks your or your films 'fame'. 1 is the highest. At one point, a film I released on Amazon was at 500 or something mad - I have no idea why!

#AwesomeCharacters Does your character have a plan? Late as ever to this one! From Atlas Rising Rourke - he’s 3 steps ahead on any plan Anderson - not a planner just point her at a problem & she’ll deal with it Esme - what’s a plan? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

#LitHodgepodge 7 The #narrative voice in Atlas Rising, continues where book 1, Pandora’s Secret left off & changes according to who’s pov we are in. There are only 2 though. This is Rourke’s - From the vomit draft of Atlas Rising; Rourke vs the CIA #WritingCommunity #writingprompts
Rourke glanced around the room as he sat, trying not to feel like an exhibit at the zoo, but avoided looking at Mercer. He was certain she would have a lot to say later.
‘You can’t look me in the eye,’ Mercer snapped. ‘Can you.’
‘I’m fine, Kit.’ He undid a jacket button. ‘Thanks for asking.’
Someone failed to suppress a laugh to Rourke’s left.
Rourke ignored it and didn’t look toward Mercer.
‘I must object again. Prime Minister.’ She sounded even angrier now.
‘Your objection has be noted.’ The prime minister sat down again. ‘Thank you.’
‘That’s not good enough.’ She snapped to her feet again. ‘This man was respons—’
‘Enough.’ The prime minister raised his voice, cutting her off.
‘Sir. I—’
Mercer didn’t know when to quit. Rourke admired that at least.
‘Miss Mercer.’ The Prime Minister stared at her. ‘May I remind you that the CIA is allowed to operate in the United Kingdom expressly and only with the permission of His Majesty's government.’
‘I am aware, sir, but this man he—’
‘In this room, I am that government.’

#SundaySnips Don't have that word, but a 'feels like' - from the vomit draft of Pandora's Secret - It's no longer in the novel. Slowed things down too much. Ted vs the Maryland Goatman #WritingCommunity #Writingprompts #Writesky #HQpress
‘Great.’ Gerald moved his hand away. ‘But don’t go too slow.’
‘Why?’ Rourke chipped in. He knew where this was going.
‘The Maryland Goatman,’ Gerald said quietly, almost whispering. ‘Don’t stop on the bridge. That’s where he lives.’
‘We’re missile-proof; I think we’ll be okay.’ Wiltshire joined in.
Oh.’ Ted laughed uncertainly. ‘Right.’
The Cry Baby Bridge,’ added Rourke. ‘You know that legend, right?’

#LitHodgepodge 3 A few months ago, I hopped into BG3 and recreated my blorbos as characters there. So I have pretty accurate pictures! So? What would their new hobby be?
Adrian and Judah are lying on a red towel on the beach, both wearing comfortable trousers.
Adrian's skin is brown; his hair is chestnut. He has some facial scars and one eye that doesn't open; the other eye is grey. He also has claws on his fingertips. He's a werewolf.
Judah is a human with strawberry blonde hair in a side-sweep; the other half of his skull is shaved. His skin is light, and he has freckles and green eyes.Adrian is standing in a moonlit landscape, there's some columns in the back and a sky full of stars.

🧛‍♂️ A Gentleman's Tour of the Empire 🦇 #wipsnips #writesky #writingcommunity #vampire
It was covered with glass, like a display cabinet in a museum, with the contents inside neglected beneath a settled layer of dust. There was a trowel, its wooden handle long since rotted away, a rusted lump hammer, a punch and pitch, and a dented triangular device which might have been a level. There was also a strapless pair of brass goggles; the ancient glass lenses scratched white. Each artifact had a brass label beside it which gave no more information than what the doctor could see for himself.

“Young Mack says the lighthouse was built over two thousand years ago.”

“With these tools? That can’t be right,” huffed Edwards, pointing at the goggles. “These aren’t that different from the ones on my face. If Midrans could make these back then, they ought to be more advanced than we are, not a hag-ridden vassal kingdom with no hospitals.”

This scene may be cut later, so here's a peek in case it does get cut. I have Guard! #WipSnips #writing
She felt like there had been a test, and she hadn’t passed. Alice began running through the interaction from the beginning. Everything had seemed fine until she’d made that stupid comment about Owen living as his authentic self. That was probably too much. Fuck, she’d messed it up!

“So,” she pressed her lips together in a tight smile, hunching her shoulders as she glanced around. “Why don’t you tell us how you’ve been surviving out here by yourself?”

“Honestly?” Owen chuckled. “I just keep my windows and doors locked all night. I’ve been trying to get the dog nosing around here to come inside, but she’s skittish. I figure she’d be a good guard dog. How long have you two been together?”

“Oh, we’re not together,” Noah said with an abruptness that offended Alice. He looked sheepish, then shrugged lightly. “We’ve only just found each other. I think a week?” He looked at Alice, who nodded.

“Maybe a little less, yeah. I’ve been trying to get a garden started in his huge back yard, but there’s not really any shade.”
