I am so close to making the switch. The only reason I haven't is that I have two drives on my computer, one with (most of) my data, and the other with windows and programs. I don't know if I can easily partition an existing drive into two parts so I can install Linux and slowly move everything over

Used Memrise to get some Swedish and German basics and it was honestly really good. Does have an AI-chat feature, which lets you practice with a bot, but the rest of the app has no AI features that I remember. Really liked the whole app and you can get really far without premium. Also from Europe

Currently in Portugal and just experienced the biggest thunderstorm in my life. Sky was flashing non-stop for 30 minutes. Felt like I was in a videogame.
Screenshot of live thunder map over the country of Portugal. Red and orange dots mark where lightning is striking. Older strikes are blue. Seeing the color gradient indicates the path of the storm, leading up to Portugal.Screenshot of live thunder map over the country of Portugal. Red and orange dots mark where lightning is striking. The central coast of Portugal is covered with dots such that the country itself isn't visible.

Hard at work on studio rebranding. While there are still things to finalize, I'm really happy with the progress! I'm aiming to have everything ready before the end of the year. I'll likely post a write up on @norrwyn.com on lessons learned! In the mean time, here's our (extremely cute) logo
Norrwyn logo, resembling a badge or patch. It has Norrwyn in all caps on the bottom, on what seems to be the ground. On top of that there is a blue fox. Above that, a orange star.

Hi! I don't like having to ask on a public forum but I'm still waiting for replies to the contact form on the debug website & DM's. I paid for 3 months of debug and unfortunately only received #10 :c Is there a better way of reaching out that I'm missing?

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy: www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Had the opportunity to playtest and give feedback for Trainatic by @ryanforrester.bsky.social, and I had an absolute blast! There's something about incremental games that scratches an itch, and pairing that with trains made this a great fit for me! You should definitely wishlist it :)
Late game screenshot of Trainatic. You can see a train, over 20 cars long, there's lightning strikes hitting around the train. There's also UI over the gameplay, and everything has a CRT effect.

I have a small cheapo amazon one and... It works. It's not great, but it removes dust from my computer decently well. Unfortunately my computer has a seemingly unremovable layer from when I was doing construction & did a poor job of protecting the computer from the dust, which it doesn't remove 🙃

You can cap the values to the screen size to get the point where you should show the indicator, and find the rotation also through that point. Sorry if you've tried all this, just brainstorming a bit.
000
André Silva | Open for Consulting @andrefsilva.com · 07/07/2025
Maybe a bit naive of me but, another thing to check if you haven't already: I just tested Camera.unproject_position, and it returns negative values if above or to the left of the viewport and values past screen size. Could you simplify the code using that? It's a cpp call, so maybe fast?
100
André Silva | Open for Consulting @andrefsilva.com · 07/07/2025
I know you said time slicing makes the indicators run at a lower fps, but if you can delay the position updates a few frames, you could in theory interpolate every frame, but update the target position only every x frames, assuming that's causing some of the bottleneck.
110
André Silva | Open for Consulting @andrefsilva.com · 07/07/2025
Maybe too simple of a solution, but you could try splitting how many indicators you update per frame? I imagine you don't need the updates to occur every single frame for every single indicator.

Beautiful read, summarizing perfectly some of the hardest challenges with freelancing. "And we buckle down again—what other choice do we have? We conjure more hours. We work harder. And our work is still enjoyable. But sometimes we ask ourselves is it worth it? Are we earning what we’re worth?"

Also using thunderbird, in an effort to de-google. Took me a while to get used to it, but now the simple UI and the fact you can connect multiple accounts just kinda clicked. It's definitely not perfect, there's things I wish I could do, but it works well enough for me!
