I shared this on LinkedIn, but… that platform feels cold. So just reiterating here for my comics and book friends— I closed out an important chapter, having worked as the Senior Designer for Graphic Novels at ABRAMS Books since March of 2021. It’s been a long journey that I’ve learned so much on.

The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

My first manga design project came to my inbox while I was in Japan in 2019. I could have never imagined I’d be holding a copy signed by the author, and still working on the series over 15 volumes later! So grateful!

I attended ICON 13 (Illustration Conference) in Baltimore this past week as a Portfolio Reviewer and let me tell you… Illustrators are amazing. Heading home feels like leaving people who uniquely understand your struggles and dreams behind, but being in that stew was ENERGIZING.

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

Photo of NBC’s exit poll data (from my work laptop, lol) showing Mamdani splitting the straight vote equally with Cuomo, but taking the LGBTQ+ vote by more than 5:1. Even though the LGBTQ+ slice is only 14% of the population, they were a LANDSLIDE in his favor.

Billy Bat is a comic about the love of comics. (And a thousand other things.) It spans decades and languages and styles, with so many cool details. Brendon and I talked for years about the ways it could be lettered. And swore that we would work together if given the chance. We are so grateful.
