We’re struggling against capitalism, fascism, AI and the devaluation of our labor by people who do not understand our trade. But we are all ready to fight back & to support each other. Even if it’s just turning around and telling someone “you can buy a replacement eraser for your blackwing pencil.”

It’s easy to think that in these times, something like illustration isn’t important, but I’m more certain than ever that making work that is unapologetic and with a strong personal point of view is the most beautiful and human act we can do as artists.

I attended ICON 13 (Illustration Conference) in Baltimore this past week as a Portfolio Reviewer and let me tell you… Illustrators are amazing. Heading home feels like leaving people who uniquely understand your struggles and dreams behind, but being in that stew was ENERGIZING.
