The same thing happened to me. I started using AI and now I can’t complete anything. Most people blame the whole unemployment and marriage falling apart leading to depression. Me, I know it was the AI disabling me.

Kind of? More words than that but I make it justify to itself for deviations from my primary rules that are checked on output. This is for legal work. It is also much more structured output so that it almost never doesn’t work but it’s o pay given very small sections to work with. 2-5 sentences.

There are desert ants that send out scouts every day/night in each direction knowing they will almost certainly all die. Eventually one comes back with knowledge of food/water.

Spanish is and has always sounded sexier. The French thing is somewhat antiquated early/mid 20th century trope with momentum.

I remember being surprised to talk about Plato with my Uncle who also happened to be commander for a wing of ICBMs. Not so surprising when he explains how turning 2 keys at once was physically impossible.

Tbf it is much more philosophy than actual physics but his newest paper is rough sketch of how to possibly test his theory and falsify MWI. The big implication of his work is that quantum computing might be doomed in being unable to scale.

Geriatric Millenial @ancient-millennial.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I think this was where he first got some coverage about his solution to a “problem” but the anti-MWI stuff is more explicit in his papers. www.quantamagazine.org/does-time-re...

Does Time Really Flow? New Clues Come From a Century-Old Approach to Math.
The laws of physics imply that the passage of time is an illusion. To avoid this conclusion, we might have to rethink the reality of infinitely precise numbers.

Especially since the MWI is perhaps a great example where there are more simple ways of ejecting them. Gisin is an actual physicist/philosopher who argues quite well that it is the underlying assumption of determinism that requires the MWI even exist. It is such a dumb touchstone.

Decades ago I learned my first mental health from the radio program Loveline. They used to do this bit where the person would call in and they would ignore the question and they would ask from their voice alone if they were abused at a specific age. They were always right.

There was an interview with Kevin Pollack about how there was a big delay because Lemmon's and Mathaus reps were both demanding the same hotel suite while filming until they realized it had 2 full bedrooms on opposite sides of the suite and decided that they should live together while filming.

This is like saying that people speeding is a problem so we should definitely focus on all the lawbreakers going 1 mph over the limit because chasing down the people going 100 mph in a school zone is too difficult.

Having lived in Ashburn I don't think water usage is a big deal. It is so western coded it is almost strange how well it caught on. I get it, I spent my first decade outside Sacramento and I remember how much water mattered but it is weird thing to worry about here.

To me the interesting thing is how he assumed the off white conditional nature of Jewish whiteness had become fully included after WWII and he may have been premature in how unconditional the expansion of whiteness really was.

My favorite assignment I ever got in college. It just explained a world for me. I remember his description of Jews as conditionally white (off white) and I think you are seeing how he may have been too quick to claim their post WWII assimilation had made them fully white.

The US is strange because the car killed the inner city and now gentrification is partly a return to the natural city geography of wealthy center surrounded by poor suburbs near transit access and wealthy suburbs beyond that.
171
Geriatric Millenial @ancient-millennial.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Because gentrification is a good thing at best and neutral description at worst. Displacement is the bad thing that comes with gentrification when not enough housing is being built to soak up demand.

This is true but saying too much. There are a lot of calculations and while we can reproduce them they have no meaning outside of context. We hope we understand what is going on and models but the legibility is actively being traded for efficiency. We don’t understand how it works completely.

You mentioned the oft pointed out decline in labor force participation which is exclusively amongst seniors while prime age employment is at all time highs. So the problem is a bunch of people decided to retire and it is dragging down the statistic you are claiming is ignored.

I think the more likely answer is that quantum effects are everywhere and it is likely more a trivial truth that doesn’t matter. There is a stochastic nature to LLM output necessary. I also think classical deterministic physics is less deterministic than we pretend.

Geriatric Millenial @ancient-millennial.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Now a bad faith reading is that this could be used to justify bad actions by evil people. I think the key to Stancil is that truth is important and if you can’t argue from reality then what is the point.

I doubt they would have been as open about it if I were not working in PG County. I didn’t even catch it was racism and not some other personality disorder until my black colleague told me the client was just racist against white people and not to worry about it.

Geriatric Millenial @ancient-millennial.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
This feels like a Stancil take somehow but anti-white racism is a thing that exists. I have experienced it a bunch of times and it hurts but in no way do I think it is a problem. It was a problem for them because it was offering free legal advice but they needed to hear it from a black man.
