I was watching @scriptingjapan.bsky.social's very interesting presentation on Japanese vulgarity and at the 45 minute mark I was glad I was strapped in bc I would've fallen over. What in the world do you mean people complain about women ending their sentences in だ?? www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSzQ...

Just FYI if I ever see one of these men irl and they’re around my friends or, deities forbid, me, it’ll be a very cold winter no matter when or where we’re at. I am not a “I can fix him/her/they!” project manager-person. I’m a “pick my struggle”-person. I’ve got enough on my plate with just me!

Idk how I read these on repeat, but I suppose the familiarity makes it easy to read? I’m just amazed by the girlies just being like “Uh. Okay I guess.” And being like “it’s for his personality not his wealth and status!” Me: 🙄 his personality….. hm. Acquired taste I suppose. Enjoyable anyhow!

I’m getting a lot of amusement out of these contract marriage stories. Ch 1: I’ll never love you cause I don’t do love 😎 Ch 10: UHM, why won’t she love me? Rude? Ch 20: I’m a crazy boy now! >8( Ch 35 Okay, I see the error of my ways 😔, but like I have a sad boy past so pls I’m sowwy 🥺?

ただいま。今日はまだマシやったけど、これ以上暑くなったら地面に溶け込んで床のシミになってまう確率が87%です。迷惑なので、バナナは出来るだけ涼しいエアコンが効いている部屋に設置していただけたら幸いです！🍌✨ Home! Today was alright, but any hotter and there’s an 87% chance I’ll melt into a floorstain. So always make sure to install your bananas in cool spaces with a working aircon! 🍌✨

Greetings, lovely citizens, Your royal sun, this Banana Prince, has ventured out into a sweltering evening to face many imperceptible yet intimidating foes. Considering my courageous & chivalrous nature, I shan’t endanger thee by demanding thy companionship… b-but if thou must insist… 🍌✨

Though I do think in some instances it can save you. Whether you can accept that or not depends on who is asking and for what, I suppose? E.g. accountability, danger, etc. In most cases, I don’t think that information not volunteered & that doesn’t concern the pursuer is ever theirs to demand.

011

AnbaLen🍌✨ @anbalen.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

I really don’t like nosiness. I do not mind interest. The difference lies in attitude. Interest is aware it’s self-indulgent and therefore not demanding nor persistent. It won’t view your information as their right and will back off when you’re not volunteering. Nosiness is the opposite.

While the code has (thankfully) iterated a few times, the principles of KanjiBox remain the same: spaced-repetition system, with fully algorithmic (no AI) selection of similar/confusing answers to make the drills harder. (full disclosure: I *do* use agentic AI in my IDE, but not vibe-code slop)

"Is KanjiBox an AI-based language app?" The first version of KanjiBox was written as a "Facebook app" (remember those?!) 19 years ago. Yes, that's a `1` and a `9`… I think we can safely say it is AI slop-free. 😉 #kanjibox #kanji #japanese

KanjiBox is and will always remain a *one-time* payment app. Subscription pricing is a great way for publishers to charge a lot more, while simultaneously appearing cheaper. Companies and VCs love that model. As a user, I thoroughly despise it. And have no intention to ever move KanjiBox to it.

This is, unironically, what my auntie Patricia said to my mum on the occasion of her eighth pregnancy, which was probably fair enough.

Patricia later told me she did occasionally diverge from
fulsome support, as when, two babies later, she took the caffein
ated nausea call and betrayed her shock with an exclamation of
‘Jesus Christ, Sheila’, which stung my mother slightly.
‘Oh, I thought you’d be pleased,’ she said. ‘You’re always
pleased when I’m pregnant.’

‘Jesus, Mary and Joseph,’ Patricia shot back, ‘please don’t
think you have to keep doing it to make me happy.’
Undeterred, my mother went on to have three more chil
dren, the first of whom was me

I've read eight Japanese books this year, more than last year in total (I was very burned out). It's a pretty good dent in the pile of books I put aside to read but I also got ten new books 😅

Pile of eight Japanese books with the text books read underneath.

Pile of twelve Japanese books with the text books to read.

I feel the main point of video games right now is that if I catch myself scrolling too much on social media I can say to myself, "if I'm gonna waste my time I'd might as well be playing a video game, which would actually be fun." It's hard to argue with that logic

Thank you!! This does look like it could be helpful!! My next move, is to stick the blade of a knife under the lid to release some pressure. If that doesn't work I'm going to visit DonQ >B(!!! Man, I need to train my muscles... nothing makes you feel quite as weak as a stubborn jar.

120

AnbaLen🍌✨ @anbalen.bsky.social · 02/06/2026

Thank you-!!! Right? I agree with your theory, I also figured it could be air bubbles! So far, I tried the tap on the lid, put the jar upside down to hit the lid on the floor and squeeze the lid. None of it did much. It's so stuck, my grip can't find purpose on the lid to turn it v_v.

AnbaLen🍌✨ @anbalen.bsky.social · 02/06/2026

I've been fighting to open this jar for 4 days now and I need to vent my frustrations somewhere. I'm so mad, I need the internet to permanently record know how mad I've been about this.
