Regular reminder that its easy to worry about being called some pejorative for being sensitive or soft but you are in fact by choosing to stay on twitter supporting a guy who explicitly posts white and male supremacist stuff and has repeatedly engineered his site to boost fascist propoganda

Harvard law (prestigious law generally) is funny. You get a mix of guys like Feldman who's intelligence is just that he can memorize things, who jump at every important question w/ a laughably wrong/naive take. & you get real scholarship from deep thinkers like Bowie & Renan bsky.app/profile/niko...

The 1st & 3rd sentences are true but I don't think its correct that it follows it won't change the avg person's life? It may not even provide positive value but many young people have it embedded in their lives. Like the computer or social media it is going to transform many lives (for good & bad)

Begging my labor proponents to be more literate than this when it comes to labor measures (economics, really, but id settle for this) Its an inaccurate representation of the relative wellbeing and power of workers in the US (not to mention trends) & good strategy should reflect that

The idea that national economic prosperity comes from founders "manifesting" it "through sheer force of will" is supported by no school of economics, but is sadly widespread in certain circles. Stable rules-based government, human capital, physical capital, natural resources. These build prosperity.

I mean yes? You should try to avoid making AI firms, who are willing to spend many billions to succeed, feel existentially threatened by dems winning such that they pour billions into anti-dem messaging. You can also still be anti-AI like people want. Theres space between those. 2 things can be true

Reasonably relieved to see warsh recover & avoid a mistake we all suffer from here. I'm not sure you can give him too much credit for doing the obvious but he's at least learned everything he'd been doing was unpopular. Still waiting to see when a big decision comes if he avoids partisanship

I tend to find myself landing on the side of giving students slightly too much benefit of the doubt or partial credit (at least on average, sorry if I've wronged you) which I think is the right approach but this is a good reminder that a deserving F might actually save the Republic some day

It's genuinely fascinating that the US president keeps announcing that he just flat out doesn't know what trade is, he legit doesn't appreciate the concept of exchange and instead views economic activity through the lens of a dragon attempting to maximise its gold hoard to sit upon.

liberal democracy is not a luxury. liberal democracy is the magic beast that ran the table on fascism and communism and totalitarianism. we did not do this by giving up on liberal democracy and embracing evil. we did this by sticking to our most dear principles.

This is pretty empirically testable and fails. We dont see higher rates of maha/anti-vax among those discriminated against in or frequently excluded from our healthcare system (people of color, poor people, non-insured). Its highest among the most conservative areas. Important we get this right

It is grimly funny to watch people contrive scenarios that the economy today is historically bad, be shown they are empirically wrong, & spin themselves in circles until their logic leads to claims like the 2008 crisis was just speculators losing flipped homes. I promise you 10% unemployment is dire

If this was true we'd be able to see it & test it empirically. Models can account for non-linearities or interaction effects to describe precisely this It just doesn't hold water that this is what has caused the sharp change in sentiment the past few years (even if its true we dont like inequality)

Seriously how do you get this from any of Warsh's speeches or actions so far? Its been, as anyone who followed his pre-chair time could've told you, just partisan hackery along w/ pretending we haven't learned anything in the past 40 years on monetary policy. For God's sake hes suggested monetarism
