My favorite people sound cynical because they know the system is broken but are the most optimistic because we’re building a better world together.

I’m at Commissioners Court today listening to dozens of Harris County residents share their thoughts on the decisions that will be made today. It’s great to see so many people engage with government in this way. I wish more people knew that they can do this (and more) to make their voices heard. 🧵

The country where they have a system where they think God chose you to be in the monarchy by birth arrested a royal Epstein co-conspirator while our elected president who is in the files many thousands more times with worse allegations is not even facing impeachment.

You can tell that the Trump admin is full of abusers based on the rhetoric they use. Homan really just pulled a, “I wouldn’t be hitting you if you hadn’t made me so mad,” during his comments on MN.

I need folks to internalize that for every injustice we see there are many we do not see. There are many Liams that have been disappeared into detention that we must also find and bring home. That we must care for even though we don’t know their names.

For Labor Day, I thought I'd recommend some books that have stood out in helping me think about work, how we relate to it, the relationship between labor and capital, the history of labor, and what the future might hold. 1/8

Thinking about how bad we can be at creating effective systems for organizing. While we don’t have to over professionalize our spaces, we absolutely can and should treat our work with the level of seriousness we do our workplace responsibilities without making it overly formal or uninviting.

Opinion | Texas lawmakers could have funded emergency response systems — but they didn’t

When they try to explain to us that we have to engage in preemptive strikes on Iran because they could have weapons of mass destruction, we should remember Iraq and the words spoken by our president at the time: “Fool me once, shame on you… Fool me, you can’t get fooled again.”

SCOOP: The State Department's new reorganization plan includes the opening of an "Office for Remigration," a term popularized by far right extremists and neo-Nazis in Europe. The office will coordinate directly with DHS "to advance the President’s immigration agenda." My report:

State Department set to launch ‘Office of Remigration’
The concept of remigration has explicitly neo-Nazi roots and has been popularized in Europe.
