I was born into a family of jocks and spent most of my life in the world of sport. It's why it pains me so, so much that those spaces are so often poisoned by toxic masculinity. Initiatives like this give me hope, though! CU Athletes wrote short stories for boys on healthy masculinities. Go Ravens!

Happy birthday to Clara Hughes, born on this day in 1972 in Winnipeg! She competed at the Summer and Winter Olympics, and won two bronze in cycling and a gold, silver and two bronze in speedskating. She is the only person to win multiple medals in both Olympics. 📸 Simon Baker
The image shows Clara Hughes wearing a dark green and black top with a high collar, sitting indoors with a blurred background featuring large windows and a concrete pillar.

Copied post from twitter:

"Today we remember & celebrate our friend Joey Moss on what would have been his 63rd birthday [blue heart][orange heart]"

Photo is of a young Joey Moss decked out in full Oilers gear, with credentials around his neck, raising his gloved hand in the air with the index finger out in "No. 1" fashion. The photo appears to have been taken at one of the original Heritage Classic games played outdoors at Commonwealth Stadium.

Why should Albertans vote “no” on the four constitutional questions? Because we risk opening Pandora’s box — inviting another round of divisive and potentially detrimental constitutional debates that could well reduce, not expand, provincial autonomy. drjaredwesley.substack.com/p/pandering-...

22/23 The sea is already an unforgiving environment. We created safeguards precisely because it kills people. Political protest ashore is one thing. Entering an active rescue operation and physically interfering with vessels is something very different.

I noted recently on my brief visit to Trieste that at least 3 carabinieri were guarding the tiny local Jewish museum and chabad next door to my hotel. Uniforms, machine guns and very suspicious stares. I don't want to think that level of weaponry is needed here, but perhaps that's the reality.

"Voting...is only one stage of democratic decision-making. Referendums cannot themselves create the political agreement necessary to resolve fundamental constitutional disputes; voting is only a small part of the referendum process; it cannot create the will to agreement where none exists."

Voted by mail-in ballot yesterday, incl'g with my parents. Multi-generational (incl'g high schooler niece) agreement that this whole thing, and particularly the 9 questions other than separation, is a despicable, harmful, waste of time, money and democratic legitimacy. No joy, but vote anyway.

Thoughts upon returning to Canada from Europe: 1) ArriveCAN is still a thing? I mean I didn't use it, but they're still saying it's a thing 2) better is definitely possible with our 4 largest airports 3) will my checked bag make it? I am open to taking risks but I know I have no agency here...

Traffic jam, Lake Bled
A sunny day on Lake Bled, Slovenia. Clear blue skies behind a forested Ridgeline. Centred in the photo is a church steeple. The church is on an island in the middle of a lake. On the lake are several rowing shells, of varying sizes and with rowers at a standstill, pointed in all directions. The photo is taken from the perspective of one rowing shell, the stern of which is painted white and blue with a red racing stripe.
