Small update: I'm working on some "less Tuomala-like" projects in the novelette/novella range--smaller in scope, more intimate, and skewing toward off-brand genres like horror, romance, or erotica (or all three at once). For Brand Reasons, I'll be self-publishing these on Itch under another penname.

Patched up the quilt for the winter. It was very handsome when I first made it, with rule-straight squares and vivid colors--but some of the fabric hasn't held up well to the rigors of regular use. I've been repairing with applique and visible mending techniques, trying to embrace its age.

Do you have strong feelings about narrative person and tense? Does it depend on the execution, or are there combinations (e.g. first-person present-tense) that don't really work for you, even when you can tell they're executed well? Do you have different standards for different persons/tenses?
