It’s tough to get a good view of this hillside across from where i live, but it’s always worth trying. Every year it has the best reds.
A glimpse of a hillside covered in trees with fall red foliage. The foreground is trees with leaves that are starting to yellow, creating a sort of lime-green color. A zoomed close-up of the last photo, with the red-leaved hillside taking up most of the shot. It’s a little blurry due to the zoom.

I’m pretty tired of people who live in the US with their “Why aren’t millions of Americans out in the streets protesting,” takes. Why don’t you start, poster, by asking yourself why YOU aren’t out in the streets and maybe you’ll be closer to an answer.

We aren’t “hallucinating intolerable inflation.” We are, in the real, actual world - at the grocery store, when paying our bills - experiencing intolerable and unsustainable price pressure on necessities like food, energy, and health insurance/health care.

A moral emergency.
We are transfixed by those who defy this dehumanization because the vague way in which we allow our leaders to perpetually delay fixing this "broken" system obscures a moral emergency. Which is that Medicare for All would prevent an estimated 68,000 unnecessary deaths a year. Each of these cases represents real people, whom others love and need. Each of them has the capacity to feel terror; each has an experience that someday could be yours. This is to say nothing of the countless others whose bodies will be brutalized or neglected because a company does not wish to pay, despite the fact that we ourselves have paid them. Broken is for household appliances. The American health care system is inhumane. It is predicated on bodies not being real, but the thing about bodies is that they always are.

Oh he died. At 92. How to be a poet
How To Be a Poet
Wendell Berry
(to remind myself
Make a place to sit down.
Sit down. Be quiet.
You must depend upon
affection, reading, knowledge, skill-more of each than you have-inspiration, work, growing older, patience, for patience joins time to eternity. Any readers who like your poems, doubt their judgment.
ii
Breathe with unconditional breath the unconditioned air.
Shun electric wire.
Communicate slowly. Live a three-dimensioned life; stay away from screens.
Stay away from anything that obscures the place it is in.
There are no unsacred places; there are only sacred places and desecrated places.
iii
Accept what comes from silence.
Make the best you can of it.
Of the little words that come out of the silence, like prayers prayed back to the one who prays, make a poem that does not disturb the silence from which it came.

WTF is wrong with the lawyers and judges who willingly participate in this evil shit? When Trump is finally gone, there need to be serious consequences for all the people who are perpetrating this horror in the name of the US. It’s disgusting beyond belief.

V-2 is completely off-camera and has been for about 5 minutes. It’s the first time i’ve seen that. He flapping his wings a lot and then in the branches above the nest to the right for a while, and you could still see his shadow on the tree trunk, but then he completely disappeared! 🦅
