So I just finished watching Todd in the Shadows' "Worst Hit Songs of 2024", and number 10 was an absolutely abysmal cover of "Travelin' Soldier" that I did not realise existed and was happy to never know it actually became a bona fide hit. Less amusing now that Vietnam 2.0 is about to happen. AGAIN.

New fic! 🌹Coup de Grace - part 1 of 3 Haru Basement AU, in which Haru decides to take matters into her own hands to protect her friends from Akechi's schemes archiveofourown.org/works/752908...

Coup de Grace, KupoWonders
She doesn't want him dead. Just gone. So they tell her what they can do- figure out his route to and from school and work, take him so fast that no one would see, and take him somewhere else. Somewhere that he wouldn't be able to hurt anyone.

Faced with the impending arrest and murder of her closest friend, Haru resorts to extreme measures to make sure that the interrogation room plan does not go ahead. So long as Akechi is out of the picture, Ren and the thieves will be safe. She'll make sure of it.
(Or: Haru has Akechi kidnapped and kept in her basement to protect Ren.)

Tags: Mature rating, graphic depictions of violence, One-sided Okumura Haru/Amamiya Ren, and implied Akechi Goro/Amamiya Ren, kidnapping, Imprisonment, sensory deprivation, isolation, starvation, abusive relationships (this is Sugimura), dealing with grief in totally healthy ways I promise

*listening to "partners - the game is afoot! (arrangement)" for the 638th time* fshgsjdgd isn't it wonderful how THE old man yaoi OTP in this game comes pre-packaged with a song in the soundtrack that's explicitly written and arranged with them in mind? wow

my favorite akeshuake trope is akechi going "fuck it, this is my last night alive. who cares" on 2/2 and sleeps with Akira. Only to wake up after fighting Maruki and be like "NO NO NO FUCK THIS FUCK THAT" and decides he needs to go into witness protection so he doesn't have to follow up on that

Illustration of younger Herlock Sholmes and Yujin Mikotoba performing a "dance of deduction" (Herlock in a silly pose and Mikotoba tap-dancing). Between them is Inspector Gregson, crouching over a dead(?) body with a confused expression

Some old silly doodles when I was first trying to figure out how to draw Mikotoba and Sholmes 👞 #aceattorney #tgaa

Two bust studies of Mikotoba in his Japanese (kimono) and English (suit and bowler hat) attire.

Series: Ace Attorney

Sketches of various scenarios depicting Sholmes and Mikotoba's 10 year reunion, including: Sholmes judging Mikotoba's current facial hair, admiring his deduction skills, and latching (literally) onto an old familiar dynamic.

Series: Ace Attorney

Sketch of Sholmes turning around quickly, accidentally slapping a startled Mikotoba in the face with his floppy fringe.

Series: Ace Attorney

WIP Wednesday: yes, he's choking Ren out a little, but Goro is ALSO being honest about his feelings. And that? That's growth

Text screenshot: “I’ve hated sharing you. With them. With anyone.”

Goro's voice was low, his gaze steady. He tucked Ren’s hair behind his ear, following the curve of cartilage down to the lobe with the edge of his nails. Goro rested his fingertips in the hollow of Ren's jaw, hand wrapping comfortably around his throat. Goro stroked Ren’s jugular with his thumb.

Ren wondered if Goro could feel his hammering heart through that thin skin. How could he not?

“I know,” Ren said, swallowing hard against the added resistance of Goro's loose grip.

Alright maybe I do have something for wip Wednesday. Been thinking a lot about Akechi smoking in third sem, so here's that. Behind a temple at that lol #jjw

"Didn't have you pegged for spiritual." He eyes the lit cigarette positioned between gloved index and middle. "Or a desecrator of holy places."

Akechi snorts. "*This* isn't new, it's simply new to you. The Detective Prince would care if his clothing reeked of smoke. Akechi Goro, doesn't." He punctuates that with a long drag in through his mouth, out through his nostrils. "And, pray tell, would dearest Maruki be able to sleep at night knowing these little cancer sticks were still all the rage in his perfect paradise? Please. I can't even taste the tobacco. He's rendered them stage props; harmless, aesthetic and aesthetic only. It's like smoking hot air."

Akira can't keep away the smile playing at his lips. The thing about Akechi is that he's exactly the kind of person to say "I have nothing more to say to you," and then be incapable of not correcting you if you follow that statement up with assuming something about him.

"Can I try?"

That makes Akechi look at him, finally. He raises one eyebrow, gaze skating between Akira's eyes and shoulder.

Akira leans one shoulder against the cobblestone wall. "I asked Mona if he wanted to come with me and he said he'd rather run laps around Yongen," he supplies.

Another snort. "I'm afraid you're being upstaged in intelligence by your own cat. This game you wish to play with me is useless and—"

"—a waste of our time, I know," he finishes, crossing his ankles and tapping the toes of his boot. "It's also really fun."

"It's *fun,*" Akechi echoes hollowly.

"Yeah. I like pushing you. Isn't that what rivals do? Push each other?"

Akechi looks away, instead staring into the small, darkened garden ahead of them. He takes another puff, and Akira has to admit, he really doesn't smell anything.

It absolutely makes sense that men are using AI more and seeing more job benefits, because confidently spouting nonsense in the shape of information (what LLMs are programmed to do) has always been much more of a pathway for career advancement for men than for others.
