Very excited and grateful that our project has been selected for the 2026-2027 #AI /Big #Data/ Enabling #Technologies Seed #Grant of the @weillcornell.bsky.social/Mastercard Collaborative. 🎊
Signed letter in Weill Cornell Medicine letterhead with the text:

August 11, 2026

Amitava Banerjee, PhD
Postdoctoral Associate in Systems and Computational Biomedicine
Department of Systems and Computational Biomedicine

Dear Dr. Banerjee:
It is with great pleasure that I would like to inform you that you have been selected as a recipient of the 2026-2027 AI/Big Data/Enabling Technologies Seed Grant of the Weill Cornell/Mastercard Collaborative. Congratulations!

There was a very strong applicant pool, and your application was one of the most competitive. As a recipient of this award, you will receive a one-time grant of $50,000 covering the period from August 11, 2026 through July 31, 2027, and towards the development and completion of your project. Additionally, you will be required to participate in five events in the academic year as part of the Mastercard Collaborative’s Mentoring Program. Further information about this program will be forthcoming.

Please note that you must submit a progress report by September 1, 2027. Progress reports must include:

i. A two-page narrative consisting of the following sections: Major goals of the project; accomplishments under these goals; and goals for the coming year.

ii. A list of quantifiable measures of progress resulting from Mastercard Grant Program funding, such as new publications, new related funding, invited presentations, awards or honors, service on national or international committees, academic promotion, etc.

iii. A current “other support” document listing pending and active grants.

Congratulations again on this prestigious honor.

Sincerely,

Kyu Rhee, MD, PhD
Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine

Judy Tung, MD
Associate Dean, Faculty Development
Chief, General Internal Medicine

Gotta say the cshl.edu website looks extra cool today
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory website screenshot showing ribbons in blue, and a cartoon of bats emerging from a cave with a bright red round object looking like a virus in the back. Title reads "BATMAN brings TCR therapy out of the shadows". Subtitle reads "A new AI model developed by CSHL quantitative biologists could help improve immunotherapy treatments not only for cancer but all human illness."

Infographic summarizing a study on T cell receptor (TCR) activation by mutant epitopes. The graphic is divided into three sections:

Database (top panel): Describes a dataset with over 22,000 TCR-pMHC pairs, involving more than 150 activated TCRs and 25 mutagenized epitopes, covering both MHC class I and II, aggregated from 20+ years of experiments. A heatmap of epitope mutations and TCR structures is illustrated.

Model (middle panel): Shows the BATMAN model for predicting TCR activation. The model combines an amino acid mutation similarity matrix with a learned mutation position weight profile and an MHC binding factor, outputting a prediction of TCR activation.

Predictions (bottom panel): Highlights two applications — predicting tissue targets of cancer-specific TCRs and T cell responses to mutant viral antigens — accompanied by illustrative icons of organs, T cells, and viruses.
