This chapter argues that women’s collaborative methods should be understood as deliberate political interventions into production practices that privilege the white male director. Drawing extensively on his interviews with filmmaker Lynn Shelton, Alberti focuses on the workplace
practices of a director who functions more as a facilitator and curator for films that are often improvised collectively.
