Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is.

Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.

Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.

an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

Got my suitcase out to start packing for CFF & someone wants to go with me.

A black and white cat sitting inside of a black and blue suitcase. She looks annoyed that I told her that she has to get out.

The numbers aren’t adding up. 👀

A black cat gives a suspicious sideways look against a textured pale blue background. White text reads: “Almost everyone thinks they have common sense. And yet, common sense seems to be the least common of all the senses.”

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying

how about some good news: new cat just dropped!!!!

a photo of a small, spotted wild cat, with orange fur and brown circular markings, staring up with big golden eyes.

Meet the First New Cat Species Discovered in 100 Years

A small, spotted tiger cat from Bolivia may just be the beginning of a wave of new small cat species.

This 10-year-old male tiger cat is the first of his species (named Leopardus tilcayo) known to science. He is approximately 18 inches from head to end of body and weighs only 3 pounds, making him smaller than the average domestic cat. This video was captured at the Senda Verde Animal Refuge in Bolivia’s Yungas region, where he currently resides.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

The cats graciously put on a magic show for us last night. I figured out how they did most of the tricks, but I didn’t say anything, because that would have been rude.

Two cats on a platformed tower. One is on the lower level, head hidden behind the middle section. The second is on the top tier with only their head showing.

I didn't grow up in the Northeast, but all of my family is from there, so this makes sense.

I took a quiz about what words I use to refer to certain things and how I pronounce different words. The resulting map has different colors areas around the map based on how close my choices match the language use in those areas. Based on my answers, the quiz says I am most likely from the areas of Boston, Worchester, or Arlington.

I had a feeling that I needed to catch up on some sleep. I woke up at 8 & closed my eyes to rest until my alarm went off at 9. I either slept through all my alarms or shut them off in my sleep because I didn't wake up until noon. Good thing that I don't work today.
