My MP stopped responding. I sent a pointed email: "Just a reminder that the EDM240 closes on Thursday. Sincerely watching and waiting as advised, Amber." She has time to write a frivolous letter to FIFA over a red card, but wants to watch and wait rather than protect her actual constituents. 🤨

Us autistics can be literal, which can be hilarious. Main hall filling up with regulars before group. Chap sneezed I say "bless you" Sneezed again "Bless you" Juuust as he's winding up: "but the next one is £10!" Not seen someone bluescreen that hard in a while 😆 (I reassured him was just joking)

I wonder what it will take for ear defenders/noise cancelling headphones to become as normalised as spectacles? After all, they're a very visible disability accommodation. But people seem to forget that.

"Streamline"? More like _scream_line: system harder/less efficient to use, requires opening browser to do what a single button on native programme used to do, required substantial IT team call time to fix broken process (and I solved it, not them)... But hoo that ain't the half of it.

Interesting that, even when folks know I have a degree, some still assume there's something wrong with my logical abilities. Sure, I'm dyscalculate & have sensory processing issues; I'm also hyperlexic & my primary logical strength: problem-solving (which, ironically, hid the dyscalculia for years).

Peculiar sitch a while back at friend's cafe. Customer: "latte, milk on the side". It devolved into two upset people; customer insisting it's a "very simple request", and my friend trying to explain that wasn't possible, but he could do black coffee, milk on the side. But that wasn't good enough.

Lot of people are very confident taking benefits away will somehow make it possible for disabled people to work. ... support is not free. Disability access equipment/tools aren't free. Also, *where* are all these jobs they keep saying disabled people should have?

I have a routine on our smart device that switches lights off at 10:35pm - works great. Problem is my husband often puts music on for the lizards, but forgets to turn the volume down when he turns it off... As a result, just as I'm going to bed, the device _hollers_: "LIGHTS! OFFLINE!" JFC.

It's been a couple of days, but I'm still laughing: heard my husband singing something operatic, and he was holding a note that was all "Hooooooh". You bet your ASS I _flung_ that door open and yelled "LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA!!!" Poor bloke almost hit the ceiling, and I ran off cackling.

This is what I keep saying to people (well, a variant of it); I have heard/seen/done some VERY strange things over the years, and this means I am remarkably difficult to fluster. Note: Mum, this is not a challenge. You have an unfair advantage.

Big thanks to my uni professor who advised not travelling in this morning with concerns about flooding. Turns out that's not the reason my train was cancelled, but cancelled it was! Got a refund and an extra couple hours of lovely sleep; joined my class on Teams instead.
Trainline staff member finally agreed to refund me in full And 20 mins before I should have been getting on the train, an email arrives to say the train has been cancelled.

I heard some people whispering "are those swords?!" - turns out that, while it's illegal in the UK to carry modern-method manufactured swords, it is perfectly legal to carry traditionally forged swords.

One of the strangest moments in my training as a therapist was when a fellow student complained they hated listening to other people's problems. I gently said: "if you don't mind me asking, what are you doing here?" They looked at me, frowned, picked their stuff up and left. Never saw them again.

This gets progressively funnier with every use of the term "floppy".
One of Britain’s most senior police officers has launched an angry tirade against Extinction Rebellion protesters going “all floppy” when they get arrested.

Sir Stephen House, the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan police, said the tactic of going limp was a “flipping nuisance” as it required extra officers to drag protesters away.

House told a London assembly police and crime committee hearing: “We have asked them to stop being floppy. And that might seem like a silly thing to say, but when we arrest them and pick them up, they go all floppy, which is why you see four or five officers carrying them away. It’s a complete waste of officers’ time, and a complete pain in the neck.”

House also expressed annoyance at how the tactic made the police look heavy-handed. He said: “The problem with them going floppy and four offices carrying them away [is that it] looks to the general public like police are overreacting here. We’re not making them go floppy. They’re just sort of being a nuisance.”
