And I shall "nown" you again, just to be on the safe side. That should do the trick.

I mean, he thinks it's cool, and it's unlikely anyone else has got it, so that'd make it good odds for being unique - so, although pretty unethical, objective complete...

Someone might want to let OP know this could be a sign of anemia - seeking crunchy and/or unusual items to consume is often a symptom of iron deficiency.

You're not going to get sectioned for that, unless it's risking harm to yourself or others. Might be worth exploring what's keeping it there though - as others suggest, it might be a compulsion, and in most cases, those can be worked with. 🥰

There's also the whole issue of humour often being a semi-respectable glaze for truth.

I'm completely aphantasic, but turns out I can still hallucinate - apparently a lot of us can. Haven't tried shrooms though, so can't give you an opinion on that.

Have you ever had an instant noodle sandwich? Genuinely one of my faves - bread has to be properly buttery, and the noodles still warm. Chicken or beef are best, but other flavours work too.

Yep, and proud of it! 😁 Imagine how much more fun you too could be if you choose to throw off unnecessary societal standards and live the way you want to, instead of how you and/or others feel you should. 🥰

Mind you don't injure yourself with that stretch; some people enjoy gender. And while it might be true for you and some folks you know, doesn't mean that's the case for all, nor does it mean that it's healthy... Though it might be a contributory factor to women statistically living longer than men.

Reinforcing unhealthy gender stereotypes AND being ableist - a double whammy gutpunch for ADHD/autistic/ADHD femme-presenting folks struggling with executive dysfunction. Haven't seen _that_ combo in at least five minutes. 😐😑😐

My MP stopped responding. I sent a pointed email: "Just a reminder that the EDM240 closes on Thursday. Sincerely watching and waiting as advised, Amber." She has time to write a frivolous letter to FIFA over a red card, but wants to watch and wait rather than protect her actual constituents. 🤨

We're also kinda screwed by the fact that they're all power-grubbing arseholes who would rather trip others up and get in their way to be able to point and say "look how ineffective the honrble gennlman is" rather than actually get things done to improve the lives of their constituents...

Us autistics can be literal, which can be hilarious. Main hall filling up with regulars before group. Chap sneezed I say "bless you" Sneezed again "Bless you" Juuust as he's winding up: "but the next one is £10!" Not seen someone bluescreen that hard in a while 😆 (I reassured him was just joking)

So how do we compensate for what is now _significant_ data loss? Because, and forgive my limited tech knowledge, a quick Photoshop filter isn't going to do that.

Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 04/05/2026
However, that pixel is MUCH brighter than the surrounding data, which, if I've understood correctly, obliterates data around it for quite some margin (think of someone shining a flashlight in your face) - and there are many times more satellites now, creating much greater impact...

Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 04/05/2026
Okay, so, how do you solve the problem of the missing data, putting back what should have been visible behind those streaks?

I wonder what it will take for ear defenders/noise cancelling headphones to become as normalised as spectacles? After all, they're a very visible disability accommodation. But people seem to forget that.

I appreciate that you acknowledge perceptions matter - because it's not just the folks being labelled, it's also the general perspective, stigma etc. Again, Chapman will likely have covered this. Just getting dinner.

Not really, being as it's the ND community themselves that coined the term. Curious would be _who else_ would get to claim "authority"? But say we lean into your concern: forging it yourself if you have to, what would your preferred one-word umbrella term be?
100
Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
Nod to risks of argumentum ad pop/auth, but plenty of psychology/neurodevelopmental researchers and ND communities haven't had problem understanding. As noted earlier, language _does_ that sometimes; British is three languages in a trenchcoat. Luckily, specialist wrote accessible text (just £9.99!)

Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
Which is entertaining, being as Chapman literally wrote "Empire of Normality". I feel this discussion would be moot if you had read that, but I'm not particularly fearful of being wrong. Anyway, you know as well as anyone that language is a living thing. So, what's the actual issue here?
100
Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
Unnecessary. Just in case there's a misunderstanding, it's not just a neologism for autism and/or ADHD, it's about significant divergence from a theoretical "neurotypical" brain, and as noted, it's a shorthand/"slang". Again, I'm sure Chapman probably covers this in more depth than 200 chars allow.
100
Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
Probably because it's a shorthand, rather than prescriptive. As for objective, while it's a broad term, it covers measurable variations in things like sensory-, language- and cognitive processing, exec funcs, attention regulation, etc. (Also, Chapman _is_ pretty well known in autistic academia...)
100
Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
Can't help with mind-independent, given its nature, but epistemologically and metaphysically, I'll give it a go: a sociocultural term rather than pathologically defined; deliberately and pragmatically so. I'm confident Robert does a better job of explaining than me though, thus the recommendation.

Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
I suppose it depends on how _you_ define "real"?

Amber_PL @amberpl.bsky.social · 06/04/2026

Bearing in mind most humans (regardless of gender) have a max functional operating performance for about 3 hours, I wonder if it might be a better joke to swap in neurodivergent folks? (Many of whom feel 8 hours is what they're paid for, so that should be working for 8 hours...)
