A reminder on Green council candidate Stephanie Smith

Every year of my life I get more and more progressive and more and more confident I will -never- be like Colleen Hardwick. ✌️

Alyssa_Jayne @alyssajayne.bsky.social · 17h

Yep, nailed it. Notorious Trump fan over here — definitely me and not the Hardwick voters and their far right connections! My single issue remains never voting for Colleen Hardwick and how absolutely vile she is. ✌️

No Council change or bureaucratic overhaul is going to fix the structural problem that most efficient, timeline driven people cannot stand to work in civic government because of the pace and layers of bureaucracy that slow it down. You can’t just change policy, it’s an entire culture.

I don’t know about this website, man. Seems weird to call a “political compromise” the boldest thing the Provincial government has ever done on housing to combat municipalities that refuse to construct anything, anywhere, that had immediate beneficial impact in cities that aren’t dicks about it.

In other news, John Mayer just announced a 6 day residency at the Sphere in April, bringing back the acoustic / full band / Trio format from the Hollywood Bowl show, and I cannot go for a number of reasons I cannot yet speak about. But I am absolutely devastated.

When your team has been decimated across 4 layoffs over a year, all of you coming from a privately held firm that protected it’s people in tough markets before being bought out by a publicly traded corporate behemoth, how can you possibly get those who remain to care? Everyone is checked out.

Why are new hardcover books $44 dollars now. What is happening. Do not tell me there is this kind of inflation on paper.

Not to Gaylor on main, but Joe Alwyn changing his Instagram profile photo to the Truman Show sure is suspicious.

Colleen Hardwick barely getting more than whatever that Vancouver Liberal dude stands for besides wanting to win is incredible. If nothing else, TEAM failing spectacularly election after election at least keeps me going in this city.

Let us please stop comparing marathon runners to that Hyrox woman. Marathon runners exist in their own space, not touching anything, outdoors — not on shared equipment. I don’t need to hear about this story anymore: indoor events with shared equipment need health standards.

Crying over the loss of the Villages plan because my neighbourhood desperately needs more than one coffee shop because I am exhausted and 15+ minutes is too far and all that will save me right now is one fun little beverage.

I'm disappointed that Azaroff has withdrawn from the mayoral race. Pete Fry has offered nothing beyond some name recognition and a vague claim to being "progressive". But here's a fact: he's voted against more social and below-market homes than Ken Sim. He has a lot of work to do to earn my vote.

Anyone in my field looking for someone to work on their urban design team? Engagement and charrettes, big event planning and logistics, land use planning, rezonings, deep project management skills atrial for the field - I do it all. Let me know if you know of anyone looking for that person.

ABC told planners what to do, the planners did it well, and they changed their mind and used them for political bait. The Villages plan is in the approved Vancouver plan ffs! I hope Josh White and other senior leadership quit. This is why good planners no longer work in the City of Vancouver.

Please, I beg of you, do not teach your children it’s okay to watch videos with the audio up on the bus. Why is this suddenly okay, this is not okay. No headphones, no sounds. Basic respect. Not kids watching Minecraft and someone on FaceTime, stop it. Absolutely stop it.

Urban planner type here: All 4 corners but also allow density off arterials. In fact prioritize density off of car sewers for the health of people living in apartments.

I wish I had the time and capacity to write a (clearly AI generated) response to every single thing going to Council like Colleen Hardwick. Can you imagine a life so privileged and empty that you have the time and capacity to complain about every single thing going to Council.

Wow it’s almost as if exactly what everyone said was going to happen endlessly has continued to happen! Canada needs to continue to cut commercial ties as quickly as possible and diversify, for our own future.

I love the bus. I love the farmers market. I love getting bougie coffee with my neighbours in a 5-over-1 building that everyone walked to. The part of Kits that is good has apartments. The part of Mt Pleasant that is good has apartments. It’s almost like villages within cities are good.

If everyone could just do the bare minimum, the 2% of us carrying the success of everything on our shoulders could take a damn break. If you are a grown adult in a grown ass job you should not need a to do list. You should not ask for help if you haven’t put any effort into finding a solution.
