Why did Innes, noted “I have to be better than my rivals” guy, choose the less viable promotion option? 🤔🤔

Still thinking about how the original Etrian Odyssey was pretty blatantly critical of the “evil humanoids” trope but just 3 years later they’d do all of that again in III but unironically. I love the series to death but none of the sequels get what made the original *really* special

Here’s my two cents on the nine games trend. A few titles had to be shoved out for other ones, but these all made me Feel Things in ways that most games don’t. Some more basic, others on a deeper level. Roughly ordered in how important they are to me

The box arts of nine video games (made with my9games.com).

In order from top-left to bottom-right:

Legend of Mana (1999)
Silent Hill (1999)
SaGa Frontier 2 (1999)
Super Mario 64 (1996)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (2012)
Wario Land 3 (2000)
Cave Story (2004)
Box Boy! (2015)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (2017)

I’ve been playing Maeson’s romhack of FF3 over the past few days, but I don’t think I’ll be able to see it through to the end. It’s just too damn hard! I enjoyed most of what I could play, but its problems are hard to ignore.

Zig, Jim, and Gip. And Little Ziggy in the corner too, I guess

From left to right: Little Ziggy (Converge Commander Z’gok), Zig (HG Z’gok), Jim (HG GM), Gip (HG Physalis).

By the way, Gip is not pronounced with a “soft G” sound.

An insignificant but absolutely insane piece of misinfo I’ve seen multiple times is the claim that Mystic Knights can’t use magic during battles in the famicom version of FF3. The magic command is right there! You can make your ghost knight cast weak healing spells in battle!

Got bored. Realized I've never actually attempted that extremely specific 90s anime poster shading. Materialized an elf off the cover of some OVA you walked by at Blockbuster to shade.

An anime-looking elf holding a crystal mace against her back, standing in front of some inner forest cast in light rays. The shoulder pads on her chest-only armor are very wide. You swear you watched the show at one point, despite it never existing.
