I'm still thinking about the way that being community-centered is a worldview as much as it is cultural. It gets inside of you and changes how you think, how you behave, how you move through the world. #WitchSky #PaganSky

You have to put yourself out there for community. You have to risk. You have to dare. You have to take a chance 6/6

One reason I shared this interaction is because this is a typical example of what community looks like. Those of us focused on community building and encouraging community-centered practice frequently talk about how many people in the "West" don't know what community looks like, what it means. 1/

The work of the witch can feel very isolating. Much of our work focuses on meeting and integrating the challenges that witchcraft brings us, helping us become more effective witches. #WitchSky

A couple times a week, I runaway to the river to write. Today, a Muslim family was having a cookout in my favorite spot (bald eagles like to sit in a tree right above it & sing). They waved me over, we exchanged names & backstories, & they forced so much food on me. 😅 It was such a cute interaction.

One of the unexpected benefits of being a witch is that this craft frequently puts us in liminal places where we are caught between extremes and left figuring out how to live in that place. #WitchSky #PaganSky

There is a certain amount of struggling that is necessary in the beginning of your practice, not because you are supposed to *suffer* but because you are learning to figure things out—because you're learning how to BE a witch. #WitchSky #PaganSky

Today's workshop was so good! We had a few people who were new to this work & did *amazing.* Things went very smoothly, some good surprises, light spirit involvement, & great confirmation for the person we worked on re: some BIG things in their practice. We will be doing this again next month!

A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:

No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase

There is no way to have community without conflict. There is no way to sustain community without repair. Anti-social behavior—on and off line—directly prevents the formation and viability of community.

The only way to learn witchcraft is through it’s active practice. You have to *do,* you can’t just read. In the WitchCRAFT not WitchTHINK workshops held monthly in The Winding Way, we actively practice witchcraft together in a group setting—practicing new techniques and getting hands-on experience.

Photo of Althaea taken from slightly above and looking down, so as to get their whole body in the frame. They have medium length dark curly hair, olive skin. They wear a black and grey flannel over a brown tank top, baggy jeans, and sandals. They also have Central Asian bracelets, earrings, and necklace, and a lip piercing. They hold a mason jar of coffee in one hand and have a leather satchel across their shoulder.

More than belief that all things possess a spirit, animism is a way of existing within the world that prioritizes relationships & community. This stands in stark contrast to the hyper individualism of the West that prizes personal comfort, desire, & instant gratification, 1/ #WitchSky
