Potential controversial opinion: I think we might’ve misjudged Neo Yokio. I threw some clips on in a discord call and the flatly delivered absurdity hits the nail on the head.

As someone who does have OoT nostalgia, them saying the remake is designed to evoke it rings hollow. It seems to hide the 90s anime vibe of pointy features and painted texture so you only get glimmers. It’s like Wind Waker remake without cartoony character design.

‘Zakus huh, this should be a piece of cake. Maybe I can grab Sayla some burgers on the way back’ ‘Focus, A. These Zeon pilots are no joke, even with your Gundam™️. Remember, headshots do double damage’

Yeah it’s a Zeon musai cruiser modified to move around a big zam instead of a hanger bay section. It folds up for transport and battleship stuff.

The tickets only get you a folding chair btw. Getting in the robot is an upcharge and even then you only wiggle the fingers with ratty gloves (that don’t work). The actually-doing-anything package cost hundreds. You can only get away with this while a property is in hibernation. Lousy service too.

While in Tokyo, I tried the Patlabor experience. I heard it might be losing the license soon and it shows. Felt straight outta Defunctland. I even had a Jenny Nicholson starcruiser pillar moment because they wouldn’t move the ladder (cost extra) and I couldn’t see shit.

He also avoids the misinterpretation problem that saved Akito from Shin by being able to reissue at his convenience. It would make single targets alone or in a crowd difficult. Considering argoman fights goons and robots hand to hand, I think he’s a well rounded, high tier Geass user.

120

AlolanRoy @alolanroy.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

The fact that he repeats his iconic phrase implies it doesn’t have the ‘once per person’ limitation that’s the Achilles heel of command Geass. But since he only tells people to kill eachother idk how that helps. It does give him a leg up on Shin, who can only tell people to kill themselves once.

110

AlolanRoy @alolanroy.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

Now that I’ve watched all animated Code Geass I can confidently say that he scales around the top tier but is roughly equivalent to Shin Shiang. ‘Kill Each Other’ can’t be broadcast over his ArgoKnightmare because Geass usually require direct contact (voice or visual)…

AlolanRoy @alolanroy.bsky.social · 16/10/2025

How does Argoman power scale with the universe of Code Geass?

Venus Wars is like watching a creative locked in an epic battle between talking about being young in a time of military occupation and his incredible horniness for his own character designs.

Horrifying realization that from an in-universe perspective, the events of Tron Ares is just the Adam Sandler movie Pixels since light cycles and recognizers are all recognizable arcade game iconography from Space Paranoids

I gotta give points to the MCU and James Gunn for making Adam Warlock a half baked jobber. It felt like a joke aimed specifically at my dad, who got hyped at the teaser in guardians 2. The monkeys paw curled when I realized he was too strong and they’d have to write their way out of that corner.

040

AlolanRoy @alolanroy.bsky.social · 02/04/2025

Not to be that guy, but you have had an MCU actor on the show before. Patton Oswalt was several recurring characters in Agents of SHIELD.

Watching sea quest DSV is funny in 2025 because not only is their near future 2018, but their fascination with dolphins as peaceful and even mystical is so quaint. Were there none of the behavioral studies we have now available? Or was everyone still in denial?

Yes, the problem is that the RX-78-2 always looked like this in the new art style and it’s too different for my tastes. Aesthetically and culturally it doesn’t feel like an extension of UC. I could see this as a far future splinter timeline, but it’s too close to work imho.
