Had a wonderful time performing These Old Shades at @bodleian.ox.ac.uk on Sunday as part of an event celebrating all things Georgette Heyer, followed by a gorgeous costume ball in the Divinity School.
Helen Davidge as Leonie and Erika Sanderson as Avon performing scenes from These Old Shades at the Weston Library.

Helen wears a red wig and floral 18thC dress. Erika wears a black and gold frock coat and waistcoat with black breeches, white stockings and black court shoes in 18thC Baroque style.

I can't remember who recommended this to me, unfortunately, but they were right; if you know LOTR this is a pleasing thing to have pop up on your feed.

As Freshers and university, we really annoyed him by singing Vitalite at him when he was trying to sing it properly

Ahhhh brilliant. In my defence I was probably under six at the time. But my parents liked to refer to it. Giggling while they did.

IS this the episode where, when it cut away to Simon Groom he went "What a pair of knockers!"? And then had to leg it at the end of the recording before Biddy Baxter caught up with him?

Happy Meldrew Point Day, Jim Parsons! Today you are 19,537 days old and have reached your Meldrew Point - the age of Richard Wilson on the day One Foot In The Grave was first aired on Jan 4, 1990. I don’t believe it!

Sir Terry Pratchett being knighted. A happy memory: both that it happened, and that it happened when he could appreciate it.

Can't speak for online purchases but my Specsavers ones are brilliant. According to Specsavers, the more expensive the varifocals the bigger the area you can see out of in the middle, which is the bit I find best for computers. I have very very thinned down lenses too but didn't pay £400 for 1 pair

Idly imagining dozens of Athenians loudly reciting their think pieces in the agora and tearing each other to shreds because a Euripides play riffing on the Trojan cycle didn't please every single citizen simultaneously.

2081: The war rages on. No nation states now exist. No commonwealths or republics or empires. No, only two politic impulses remain. The enduring struggle of the battle-hardened Nolanites against the Wilsonians.
