1) Many patients with orthostatic intolerance do not meet the require heart rate increase of POTS criteria. This new expert consensus paper argues that that this group deserves more recognition, including a separate diagnosis and ICD-code.

Autistic people, like all people, should not have to define their worth by how much they work or what they produce. Their worth is inherent. That is a distinctly American idea that is drilled into all of our heads in elementary school.

Vaccines have nothing to do with autism, except in that they help keep autistic kids and adults safe and healthy. Spread the word. Fight the disinformation and ableism. Protect our children, and our public health. #VaccinesWork #autism #neurodiversity

If you don't have any interest in autistic people themselves, maybe don't work in or research autism? Just a thought. #autism #neurodiversity #INSAR2026

Long COVID can affect anyone — regardless of age, health status, or how mild their initial infection seemed. Preventing infection and reinfection of COVID-19 is the best way to avoid Long COVID.

COVID infections are not harmless. Research shows that initial and repeated COVID-19 infections can increase the risk of long-term health problems affecting multiple organ systems. Preventing infection and reinfection helps reduce these risks. #COVID #LongCOVID #InfectionPrevention #PublicHealth

Some vaccines like COVID and flu don’t stop completely stop infection. But they do reduce the risk of getting infected and greatly reduce severe illness risk. They are still worth getting. Since they are not 100% effective it’s also wise to add another layer of protection by wearing a mask.

Yet another inside-out autism research headline! This time it's "Increased prevalence of autism in the children of fibromyalgia patients," when fibromyalgia is a common co-occurring condition for autistic people, so those autistic kids' parents are likely autistic too. DO BETTER AUTISM RESEARCHERS!

Ask people what would make them comfortable -- do those things. Ask people what stresses them out -- don't do those things. This should not be a radical way of delivering healthcare.

Most doctors were never taught how Autistic and ADHD patients' physiology works. That’s why so many patients are told their symptoms are “anxiety" and are told to lose weight, move more, and other misguided advice. Meanwhile, their neuroimmune systems rage on: allbrainsbelong.org/all-the-things

A patient said (shared with permission): "The opportunity to be heard and seen by other people that know what you go through, these connections are very healing. There's something kind of magical about that." That's what healthcare should feel like. Healthcare is community.

Autistic & ADHD adults often live with a constellation of intertwined medical problems, including dysautonomia, MCAS, ME/CFS, hypermobility, and more. The healthcare system fragments the body into pieces. We treat it as one connected story. Because it is. allbrainsbelong.org/all-the-things

Plain Language is really important to ASAN and our community. Learn about what Plain Language is and why it matters in this post! We want to make more of our social media Plain Language. It is important for our posts to be accessible to more people!
Textured dark blue background. Large white text reads: What is Plain Language? Inside a light blue box text reads: Plain Language is a way of writing that uses cognitively accessible language. Cognitively accessible language means that anyone can understand your writing easily. For example, people with different intellectual and developmental disabilities. The ASAN logo is at the bottom.Light blue textured background. Large dark blue text reads: Why is Plain Language important? Black text reads: People with disabilities should have equal access to information
You can write about any topic in Plain Language. You can even write about topics that are very technical or complex. All writing should be cognitively accessible or have a cognitively accessible version. But most people write in ways that are not cognitively accessible. They might not understand why Plain Language matters. It is important for more people to write in Plain Language. Plain Language writing is really important for topics that affect disabled people!
Remember: nothing about us, without us!
Light blue textured background. Large dark blue text reads: What does Plain Language look like? Black text reads: These are some of the parts of Plain Language writing:
Have shorter sentences & paragraphs.
Use simpler words.
Define important, complex words.
Use examples to help readers understand ideas.
Avoid info that isn’t important.
Use clear & straightforward language.
Use active voice instead of passive voice. For example, “she called her doctor” instead of “the doctor was called.”
Textured dark blue background. Inside a light blue box text reads: ASAN makes toolkits and resources in Plain Language. We also write Plain Language Roundups. The Roundups tell people about what’s happening with the government and what people can do. We want to write more things in Plain Language, like posts on our social media! It is important for our posts to be accessible to more people. The ASAN logo is at the bottom.

Why is this important? "Many disabled people in the US get life-saving health care and services through Medicaid. But some people in Congress think the government should spend less money on Medicaid. If Medicaid does not get enough money, people across the country will lose services they need." 2/2
