Took about 20 years. And I never thought a book about enslavers using deputization to give themselves policing power would be relevant to our times. But we are where we are. My book, White Power: Policing American Slavery, is now available for preorder. a.co/d/29c7EIP

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LGBTQ+ History Association response to NPS website removal of Transgender and Queer identities and history.

The LGBTQ+ History Association is outraged at the erasure of the history of important communities, and members of the Transgender (T) and Queer (Q) communities from National Park Service (NPS) Websites including: the Stonewall National Monument, Cold War, Lavender
Scare, and LGB Activism Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Governors Island in New York. The individual websites for legendary and important Americans: Pauli Murray, Marsha P.
Johnson, and the "Philadelphia's Heritage of LGBTQ Activism" on the NPS.GOV websites currently lead to dead links, which we call for the immediate restoration of these websites. From the beginning of the fight for LGBTQ equality and rights, the Transgender and Queer
individuals and communities have fought for, and continue to exist as part of the LGBTIQ communities. The erasure and removal of the “T” and “Q” from websites is unacceptable, inaccurate, and harmful. We as the LGBTQ+ History Association call on the National Park Service to restore both the T and Q on all websites immediately. History cannot be erased.
To learn more about the LGBTQ+ History Association please visit our website:
