Senior citizen here to say we sure do need to have generational change. And we need to create a pathway for a bunch of older Dems to step down, mentor, and contribute to the common good in a different way other than by holding on to the reins of political power.

Literally all the referees, including the American ones, should boycott. But nobody will because most people excuse racism unless it's happening to them personally.

Jim Crow 2.0 isn’t coming, it’s here. Yesterday, hundreds marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama to continue the fight for voting rights that are under grave assault. The bridge isn’t just a symbol. It’s a call. Get on the bridge.

Feeling overwhelmed with all of this. LISTEN. Another Louisiana resident (Marshawn is the only name we have) testifies against the state’s racial gerrymander, speaking truth to power up and down the hearing room and predicts how this story will end. Speak your truth, fight and believe.

This week, the Supreme Court finally killed off the Voting Rights Act of 1965. I've spent the past decade studying the VRA and the attacks on it, so I thought I would offer some historical perspective, and where I think we're headed. This will be a long thread; buckle up.

This is one of the most quietly revolutionary things any city can do to improve kids' lives & outcomes. If you genuinely care about kids having access to education or safe after school spaces & activities, then fund your libraries, staff your libraries, & make every public school ID a library card.

8. So while I don't think Callais is *apocalyptic* for Democrats, it's still a hideous perversion of the Constitution that will undermine democracy and racial equality for years. The Voting Rights Act is essentially dead. The 15th Amendment has been repurposed to greenlight racism. It's a dark day.

So powerful journalists, lobbyists, politicians hid, ran, pressed against walls. Secret Service & protocols activated. Then all went home. The daily reality of children, teachers & parents? They don't get protocols or security detail. And not all go home. It's the GUNS. #USDemocracy #Voices4Victory

In an overlooked decision this week, the Supreme Court ruled that the post office can refuse to deliver your mail, which is KIND OF SIGNIFICANT if you choose to mail your ballot. To do this work, the anti-democracy wing turned to their favorite “black friend,” Clarence Thomas.

Clarence Thomas Just Struck Another Blow to Black Power
In his majority ruling in a sleeper case about mail delivery, Thomas opened the door to a new way for Republicans to suppress the Black vote.

Normally watching is a can’t miss event for me. Not this year. What I wish the Dems would do: Have 1 designated Senator, and 1 designated Rep attend as witnesses. ALL other Ds gather together (maybe on Capitol steps even though it’s cold) and talk about the crisis we are in. Not normal times.
