Rich flight has been shown in study after study to be largely a myth. There is no argument against a wealth tax, higher marginal rate on highest earners or a higher capital gains inclusion rate, which by the way was 75% before Chretien\Martin slashed it to 50%

Given that more NDP members in Saskatchewan donated to Avi Lewis than to the other 4 candidates combined, perhaps it is you, Sask NDP, that is being "unrealistic".

The pundit and columnist class meltdown from folks who have never supported the NDP honestly suggests to me that the NDP is doing something significant that’s worth paying attention to. Those who defend power tend to screech the loudest when power is genuinely threatened.

Today in AI: Canada rejected the PR application of a McMaster postdoc from the Sorbonne who works in the immunology of aging because the generative AI being used to process applications (😱) entirely hallucinated her credentials. Everyone involved should be fired. archive.is/ELrCI#select...
Kémy Adé was shocked by the immigration refusal letter she received.
In rejecting her permanent residence application, the Immigration Department cited her current job duties, which included wiring and assembling control circuits, building control and robot panels, programming and troubleshooting. The department said these duties didn’t match the Canadian work experience she claimed.
Well, no, they didn’t. Adé is a post-doctoral research fellow and guest teacher at McMaster University — and those skills are not part of her repertoire. Nor are they what she submitted in her immigration application a year ago.
“I saw this language about this job description that has nothing to do with me,” said the health scientist from France, who has a PhD from Sorbonne University in the immunology of aging. “I was disoriented how this could happen.”
But a disclaimer at the bottom of the refusal letter might provide a hint.
It’s believed to be the first time that the department explicitly referred to the use of generative AI to support application processing in immigration refusals. The disclaimer also noted that all generated content was verified by an officer and that generative AI was not used to make or recommend a decision.

I remember being surprised at how about half of popular Leap Manifesto proposals were adopted by the Lib Party in 2015, to a greater or lesser extent, while these same proposals were vilified right across the media as scary and radical. 10 years later Avi Lewis is still being criticized for them:
Leap Manifesto:
*A shift to a "100% clean energy economy" by 2050.
*An end to gov subsidies to the fossil fuel industry
*Support for community-owned clean energy projects
*A universal program for retrofitting, prioritizing low income communities
*Re-training for workers in carbon-intensive industries
*Localization of agriculture infrastructure
*A moratorium on international trade deals that infringe upon democratic rights
*A debate on universal basic income
*An end to corporate funding of political campaigns and examination of voting reform.

I don't know how else to say it to you. Elections Canada uses 'eligible' to describe the number/percentage of people eligible to vote. By contrast, parties use how many members they have 'registered' - Cons ~678K; Libs ~400K; NDP ~100K. 'Registered' is a subset of 'Eligible' - not the same.
100
Alison Creekside @alisoncreekside.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
There are fewer people registered to vote in Canada than are actually eligible to vote - some people choose not to register to vote. Elections Canada usually uses 'eligible' when talking about voter turnout but parties use 'registered' because that's the only measurement they have.
