Rich flight has been shown in study after study to be largely a myth. There is no argument against a wealth tax, higher marginal rate on highest earners or a higher capital gains inclusion rate, which by the way was 75% before Chretien\Martin slashed it to 50%

Today in AI: Canada rejected the PR application of a McMaster postdoc from the Sorbonne who works in the immunology of aging because the generative AI being used to process applications (😱) entirely hallucinated her credentials. Everyone involved should be fired. archive.is/ELrCI#select...
Kémy Adé was shocked by the immigration refusal letter she received.
In rejecting her permanent residence application, the Immigration Department cited her current job duties, which included wiring and assembling control circuits, building control and robot panels, programming and troubleshooting. The department said these duties didn’t match the Canadian work experience she claimed.
Well, no, they didn’t. Adé is a post-doctoral research fellow and guest teacher at McMaster University — and those skills are not part of her repertoire. Nor are they what she submitted in her immigration application a year ago.
“I saw this language about this job description that has nothing to do with me,” said the health scientist from France, who has a PhD from Sorbonne University in the immunology of aging. “I was disoriented how this could happen.”
But a disclaimer at the bottom of the refusal letter might provide a hint.
It’s believed to be the first time that the department explicitly referred to the use of generative AI to support application processing in immigration refusals. The disclaimer also noted that all generated content was verified by an officer and that generative AI was not used to make or recommend a decision.

The gasoline stored in pumps right now sells for much more than before the war started. But it was refined weeks ago, from oil extracted months ago. And Canada produces four times as much as we consume. We don’t need Middle East oil. www.thestar.com/business/opi...

Trump's war on Iran hasn't altered Canada's cost of making gas — at all. So why are we being hosed at the pumps?
Policy choices, not market forces of a war halfway around the world, explain the spike in prices, writes Jim Stanford, leading to unnecessary economy-wide inflation and higher interest rates.

Some context to the Iranian boat that was targeted by US off Sri Lanka coast Former Indian FM: “US was aware of the Iranian ship's presence in the exercise to which the US navy was invited but withdrew from participation at the last minute”
Kanwal Sibal @KanwalSibal • 6h

The Iranian ship will not be where it was if we had not invited it to talk part in our Milan exercise.
We were the hosts.
I am told that as per protocol for this exercise ships cannot carry any ammunition. It was defenceless.
The Iranian naval personnel had paraded before our president.
The attack by the US submarine was
premeditated as the US was aware of the Iranian ship's presence in the exercise to which the US navy was invited but withdrew from participation at the last minute, presumably with this operation in mind.
The US has ignored India's sensitivities as the ship was in these waters because of India's invitation.
We are far from politically or militarily responsible for the US attack.
Our"responsibility" is at a moral and human plane.
A word of condolence by the Indian Navy ( after political clearance) at the loss of lives of those who were our invitees and saluted our president would be in order.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez Pérez-Castején of Spain :
The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before.
In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in

Our response then must be our response now:
NO to violations of international law.
NO to the illusion that we can solve the world's problems with

NO to repeating the mistakes of the past.
NO TO WAR.

Here is @ndp.ca’s statement condemning US-Israeli military strikes in Iran and calling on the Carney government to defend international law
February 28th, 2026
NDP statement on
Iran bombings
Following the events in Iran, Alexandre Boulerice, NDP
Foreign Affairs Critic, issued the following statement:
"The NDP strongly condemns the American and Israeli bombings of Iran.
This is a dangerous escalation that risks dragging the entire region into a major conflict. The oppressive and bloody regime of the Ayatollahs is reprehensible, but its nuclear program must be managed through the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In fact, its Director General, Mr. Grossi, recently indicated that he was working with the Iranian administration to resume inspections and reiterated that there could be no solution other than a diplomatic one.
The NDP deplores the Carney government's decision to blindly support this dangerous venture by Israel and Donald Trump's
administration. We want Canada to be a voice for diplomacy, peace, and international law."

Statement by Prime Minister Carney and Minister Anand
on the situation in the Middle East

February 28, 2026 Mumbai, India Prime Minister's Office
“The Canadian government is closely following Iran-related hostilities throughout the Middle East and urges all Canadians in Iran to shelter in place. Canadians in the wider region should follow local advice and take all
necessary precautions.
Canada’s position remains clear: the Islamic Republic of Iran is the principal source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East, has one of the world's worst human rights records, and must never be allowed to
obtain or develop nuclear weapons.
Canada and our international partners have consistently called upon the Iranian regime to end its nuclear program, including at the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit iand with the United Nations’ reimposition of sanctions
Despite diplomatic efforts, Iran has neither fully dismantled its nuclear program, halted all enrichment activities, nor ended its support for regional terrorist proxy groups.
Canada stands with the Iranian people in their long and courageous struggle against Iran's oppressive regime.
Canada has listed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist entity, and has sanctioned 2
Canada reaffirms Israel's right to defend itself and ensure the security of its people.
Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and
Pierre Poilievre on X
The regime in Tehran is the principal source of terror in the Middle East and around the world. It tried to build nuclear weapons to annihilate our allies. It massacred tens of thousands of its own people. It orchestrated the attacks of October 7, 2023, murdered Canadian passengers on Flight PS752, sought to kill prominent Canadian leaders, and ruthlessly targets Canadians of Jewish and Iranian descent. It has shown no good faith in negotiations to change course.
That is why Conservatives support the courageous people of Iran in toppling this terror regime and reclaiming their destiny after 47 years of the regime's occupation. Conservatives support a democratic, free and permanently-denuclearized Iran that lives in peace and security with its neighbours.
‘And Conservatives support the United States, Israel, and our allies across the Gulf to defend their sovereignty and dismantle the clerical military dictatorship of Iran.
