The GMC has done a lot to address the issue of international medical graduates being more likely to be referred for an MPTS hearing than home-educated ones. Best to look at this over a period of time but stats for this year are worrying. Me for the BMJ buff.ly/KnHEa2E

I can understand villagers' anger at any large development like this being imposed on them but they are being used by people who want to stir up trouble and the narrative about "protect our women and children" is concerning (biggest threat to women is the men they live with/have a relationship with)

The Human Tissue Authority started doing unannounced inspections of hospital mortuaries a couple of years back. It has led to a massive increase in the number of "shortfalls" found per inspection.

Terrible but surely pilots should have regular refresher sessions and simulation in reverting to older technology. Just as the NHS should have training and plans for using paper when computer systems collapse or are hacked....

In April @NHSEngland refused my request for education quality assurance reports (which they used to publish monthly and look at experience of docs and other staff in training) on the grounds they were intended for future publication. Guess how many they have published since? 0

I'm supposed to be working part time at 80% because of ongoing health conditions, and am being paid as such. My average working hours for the next four months are 36.4 hours/week. That is considered part time for a doctor. The full time for AfC staff is between 36-37.5 hours/week.

This closure has cut Oxford into two parts since April 2023, necessitating long diversions for vehicles (and restricting my access to Waitrose!). There surely has to be some form of ceremonial drive/ride through to mark the reopening.

I think this has the potential to be a big issue for the NHS. Some areas are seeing the creation of multiple social saervices departments where there was just one. Just adds to the complexity of discharging patients.

Up to now, many ICBs and trusts have had to deal with 1 or 2 local authorities with responsibility for social services. Local gov reorganisation seems to be increasing the number significantly (eg Oxfordshire going from 1 to 3). Will that be an additional challenge for trusts over patient discharge?
