if i had a kid i wouldnt tell it what anything was called and i wouldn't give it a name. i want to see what it would come up with on its own. i would write its language into a book and sell it.

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other
The Stonewall Inn and The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative are outraged and appalled by the recent removal of the word 'transgender' from the Stonewall National Monument page on the National Park Service website. This blatant act of erasure not only distorts the truth of our history, but it also dishonors the immense contributions of transgender individuals - especially transgender women of color - who were at the forefront of the Stonewall Riots and the broader fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

This isn't due to anything specific, but I do want to say; If you are telling artists or creatives to make weirder and more unmarketable art, it is in fact your obligation and duty at that point to promote/pass around/support those creatives when they *do* make that weirder art. Otherwise we can't!

Happy ten years to this bad boy.
A comic I drew on a takeout napkin in 2015. If you're pressed for time, it's the original One Fear comic. Boom. Done. Get on with your day. If you don't value your time, here's a description: it's a comic, right? Well here's the twist: whole thing's on a napkin. Thinest sharpie for the lines, if I recall correctly. Comic is titled "TEEN COMIX" and the first panel has a guy in sunglasses wearing a shirt that says "NO FEAR." His friend is approaching, cut off by the panel's edge. His shirt says... something. But what? Fear not, the next panel clears that right up. Second panel is zoomed in on the friend's shirt. It reads "WHAT IF THEY MADE SIMPSONS PORN ILLEGAL?" Last panel is the guy from the first panel alone now. His shirt now reads "ONE FEAR." The title is attributed to Branson '15 which should go a long way to explaining how far I expected this to spread when I drew it. It was unfathomable to me that people who didn't know me on a first name basis would see it. Little did I know that every fandom on the internet would edit it with something interminable like "The Xanadon Guild receiving a buff from Trade Legion in Era of Conquest IV." I never get them but hey, god bless. I still see those from time to time but it's really slowed down. Nowadays this is an ancient meme, frozen in place like a masturbating Pompeii victim covered in the ash of the centuries.

Time to share my current historical obsession: Clarice Orsini de Medici’s EXTREMELY ILLEGAL HAT! A cool reflection on performing social class, and part of my release countdown to “Inventing the Renaissance” 1/?
Portrait of Clarice Orsini de Medici by Ghirlandaio (1490s). She sits in front of an arched window frame, wearing a costly red velvet fur-lined robe over a costly black gown. The picture is dominated by her tall V-shaped hat, patterned in costly brocades of black and gold, and edged and embroidered with many pearls. Her expression is calm and unsmiling as she sits shown at 3/4 view. She has the fashionably high forehead and barely-visible eyebrows of the period, and vivid dark eyes.

imagine tenderly putting a peanut m and m in his hands. he needs both hands to hold it. he puts it in his torso and it rotates slowly as it gets smaller and smaller before disappearing from view. he nods thankfully and plods off, only falling over twice as he leaves.

Panel 1: We're looking at a mostly featureless little UPA style man sleeping against a tree with his arms behind his head. He's got a speech bubble with a saw sawing lumber. If you're young or stupid (or both) and don't know, this symbolizes snoring.
Panel two: Same deal only now there's a man dressed all in black standing and looking at the saw in the speech bubble. He has no eyebrows. Up to you how you wanna feel about this guy but I'd recommend feeling uneasy. Your call, though.
Panel three: This is where things really take a turn. This new guy, he's reaching into the sleeping man's speech bubble and grabbing his saw. He has no respect for the conventions of comics.
Panel four: That weird guy is sawing the sleeping man's stomach open. Blood everywhere. He's using the damn saw from his speech bubble, the freak. The sleeping man's wide awake now and screaming but his speech bubble is mostly obscured by the weird man who speaks softly and simply says "I'm the devil."

As usual, I've already got my New Year's resolution sorted.
Panel from "The Prisoner of Mars" by Mike Mignola. The text reads "Gentlemen, I am going to shrink myself to the size of an ant and proceed, by way of very small tunnels, to the center of the Earth."
