In review of all the renewed talk of men’s wrongs and poor accountability, I did wanna share my story in the manner

I have been in trauma therapy for 5 years as a result of being in a 7 year abusive relationship. I quite literally was in EMDR therapy earlier today talking about the shame I feel for what happened and how difficult it is to talk about with family, friends, men I date, etc...
I gave up on the idea of accountability because I needed to prioritize having some amount of peace of mind. But constantly fear for whoever he probably dated after me. I even did a solo show for a year about this and stopped cause it felt like people were fatigued at hearing one more story of a queer person or woman who faced this trauma
Men should be expected to do better.

I'm fairly certain that 90% of the women I know, and a large portion of the queer people (of all sorts) have a story about a man assaulting them, screaming at them inappropriately, and treating them with constant double standards
Like, cmon, the stories aren't new and we deserve less shame and a path to accountability
