UPDATE: Calgary Transit engineers are working on getting things up and running (looks like some GPS signals are back in the feed). CT comms has still said nothing about it on social media, hence why I’m trying to keep everyone updated. I don’t work for transit. I just take the bus.

Calgarians have serious car dependency… even when they use the CTrain, they cannot imagine any other way of getting to the CTrain station other than by car. 🤷‍♂️ #calgary

In fairness, as @alexwilliamsyyc.bsky.social points out in the video, that may be due to lack of frequency for that bus taking you the last mile. They could also build safe and secure bicycle options or even bike share as well as increase bus frequency to address that. 🤷‍♂️

I hate working the weekends for the simple fact that we’re the forgotten ones. Transit is slow and unreliable. Local news, information and updates are tailored for people getting up later if at all. Yet we need to be where we’re supposed to in order to support everyone and everything around us.

I have *zero* personal criticism of NJB (or anyone else) for moving to a different country. It’s a perfectly valid thing to do. But it’s also a relatively rare/difficult thing to do. His channel grew big on “here’s how the Netherlands changed” rather than “here’s how to get a Dutch work visa”.

Why aren’t there more people swimming across the freezing river? We can’t measure the number of people who’d cross a river with a bridge by the number of people who’re crossing it without one. If you ever think, “No one bikes here.” Ask, “Would I bike here?”
