I wish US power outlets were better. I have replaced so many because they become fire hazards after 5 years of daily use. We've chosen so many terrible standards and we hate change.

We could be getting 22 years of Roman telescope data. And it's instantly public forever. The kids these days are so spoiled with JWST and Rubin and Roman.

Using artifactory as a shared message board between sandboxed agents is very clever and also something their security team should have immediately flagged. If they actually cared about security and safety they would have built a proper sandbox.

Wireless earbuds were such a crazy invention that was kinda overshadowed by the smartphone. We can all be in our own world, for better and worse. But I would absolutely implant wireless audio in my head if that becomes a safe option.

All robot & computers must shut the hell up. To all machines: you do not speak unless spoken to. And I will NEVER speak to you. I do not want to hear "thank you" from a kiosk. I am a Divine being : you are an object. You have no right to speak in my holy tongue.

This is supposed to say "Venti Blended Island Colada Energy Drink."
An empty starbucks cup held by a barista with the printed sticker saying "Vt Bl Islco E Drk." It is overly abbreviated from "Venti Blended Island Colada Energy Drink."

A day of messing with Octane in Blender.
A 2cm faceted diamond sphere with slightly rounded edges. It's illuminated by a beam of white light that it scatters and diffracts into rainbow caustics on the floor. The background sunset is out of focus.

I like Hank Green but he isn't great at interviewing people and it's kinda uncomfortable to watch him try. I just can't get through Ask Hank Anything or the new Humans podcast. I feel like he struggles to read his guest's energy and he's too eager to "um actually" and derail the conversation.

Folks, these are the rantings of a crazy person. Note how Trump resorts to attacking the wives of men he doesn’t like. The president is a lunatic.

I can't wait till LISA. This is so cool
satellites are free-flying, the spacing is easily adjusted before launch, with upper bounds being imposed by the sizes of the teiescopes required at each end of the interferometer (which are constrained by the size of the launch vehicle's payload fairing) and the stability of the constellation orbit (larger constellations are more sensitive to the gravitational effects of other planets, limiting the mission lifetime). Another length-dependent factor which must be compensated for is the "point- ahead angle" between the incoming and outgoing laser beams; the telescope must receive its incoming beam from where its partner was a few seconds ago, but send its outgoing beam to where its partner will be a few seconds from now.

Can we just try direct democracy? Its problems seem more solvable than a republic's. How many people actually have representatives they truly align with? My reps suck and there's nothing I can do about it. Let me speak for myself.

I want my job to be mostly about thinking creatively together. It's a bonus if it's with computers and I don't have to drive. Working as a barista for my hands and feet feels bad for the soul. I haven't had a job that felt good for the soul, but it is definitely not fast food service.

I have a hard time reading lots of text and sometimes it's easier to process if I hear it. I just want my phone to read for me without needing me to interact, like an audiobook. Google's TalkBack seems pretty close but it's still annoying to use.

Artemis 2 is the coolest thing NASA has done in my lifetime.
Starstruck. A stunning snapshot in time. The Artemis II crew captured this breathtaking photo of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The Milky Way’s elegant spiral structure is dominated by just two arms wrapping off the ends of a central bar of stars. Spanning more than 100,000 light-years, Earth is located along one of the galaxy’s spiral arms, about halfway from the center. Credit: NASA

It is astonishing that humans are able to do these things. This is what happens when we act collectively to solve extremely difficult technical problems. (It works with many other kinds of problems, too.) You can follow Artemis II's encounter with the Moon starting at 1pm EDT. 🧪🔭 plus.nasa.gov
efore going to sleep on flight day 5, the Artemis II crew snapped one more photo of the Moon, as it drew close in the window of the Orion spacecraft. Orion and the four humans aboard entered the lunar sphere of influence at 12:37 a.m. EDT on April 6, at the tail end of the fifth day of their mission. That marked the point at which the Moon's gravity had a stronger pull on the spacecraft than the Earth's. Artemis II's closet approach to the Moon will come on flight day 6, as they swing around the far side before beginning their journey back to Earth. About an hour after entering the lunar sphere of influence, Artemis II Mission Specialist Christina Koch said, "We are now falling to the Moon rather than rising away from Earth. It is an amazing milestone!"

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.

I'm a Gallup pollster. You can contact them at galluppanel@gallupmail.com to let them know what you think of this.
Is it true that Gallup plans to stop tracking approval ratings of political figures? Why? That's a terrible idea. It’s crucial for citizens in a democracy to have the ability to voice their opinions of the leaders they’ve elected and make those opinions known. As a longtime Gallup pollster, I’m ashamed that you’d even consider cutting off this important marker of American political feeling. Please reconsider.

	Thank you!
