we're in this preposterous place where a stupid spatt involving 12 people woth no power, halway around the world negatively defines progressives but the horrific consequences (& political failures) of government policy are not felt to invalidate their approach of appeasing the far-right

This abused trans child is being used by Fox News as an opportunity to expand abuse of trans children. Like so many abusive parents of trans kids, these parents are exploiting the Republican culture war to further their abuse. www.wbur.org/news/2026/09...
Joseph Kutzko was accused of punching and threatening his then-15-year-old child at the family home on Jan. 28, 2025, records from Westborough District Court show. A Southborough police detective wrote that Kutzko punched the victim in the shoulder and pulled them by their hair. Kutzko later allegedly threatened to kill the victim “for not singing in tune during a birthday celebration,” according to court records.

Kutzko was arrested the next day and pleaded not guilty. In setting bail, the judge referred to three prior restraining orders against Kutzko, one of which is permanent. She did not say whether any are tied to this case.

The child’s mother, Arlene Kutzko, was charged with witness intimidation after allegedly pressuring the child to “tell the school that she was exaggerating and being stupid.”

“Arlene stated that if you solve this tomorrow everything will be okay and we will not get angry,” the detective wrote.

The midterms are shaping up to be a referendum on whether trans people should exist, with Republicans saying we shouldn't and Democrats saying maybe Republicans have a point on some of these issues. Good luck, everybody!

You know the tactic of pointing out to cis Dems that we as trans people already enjoyed the rights some Dems want to strip away from us is a powerful one given I've not seen any of them try to actually address that part. They REALLY need everyone to pretend this is like gay marriage 20 years ago.

Markey winning at age 80 because 70% of MA Dems said "fuck that transphobe" is a data point we should never stop shoving in the faces of Third Way and their ilk. An 80 year old beat the pants off the centristest centrist that ever took his military career to the center.

Once again this isn't like gay marriage. We're not asking for something new. We're asking not to lose rights we've had for decades. When Dems say they agree with enacting new restrictions on trans people, that's a betrayal. They are actively going out of their way to harm trans people.

Absolute must read from Christopher Wiggins here - don't just re-post, click through and read the nuanced portrait of trans constitituents of Vindman who feel caught between a rock and a hard place, forced to choose between a Republican or a callous, anti-trans Democrat.

I stopped using Facebook because all it was showing me (a trans woman) was transphobia and ads. I just connected *why* they were showing me transphobia with *what* the contents of those ads were (clothes, skincare, makeup, hair removal, etc)

I have to really hustle for memberships through the end of this year because I took a big risk in changing platforms away from Squarespace. The effort is chugging along so far, but we're not out of the woods. I made the change to assure Assigned's long term viability, but in the short term eeeeek!

A dark day for human rights.
four frame comic. first frame shows the logo of amnesty international. second frame shows jk rowling, smiling in the dark. third frame shows an empty classroom, with a pride poster almost falling from the wall. fourth frame shows a trans flag flying in the wind. text above all the images reads :
on july 8th, amnesty Inter-
national uk published a report
titled “A Growing Threat: The
Anti-Rights Movement in the UK.”
it listed 117 orgs, including anti-
trans and anti-queer ones
backed by jk rowling.
the backlash was immediate
and brutal : rowling pledged
to cover the fees of anyone
who wished to sue amnesty.
the report was taken down
within 48 hours.
this morning (july 31st), amnesty
fully capitulated and released
an apology to anti-trans orgs,
which, it said, should not have
been "collectively labelled as
anti-rights". rowling
celebrated.
an organisation that
bravely faced fascist regimes
and reported human rights
violations for 65 years has caved
to rowling's power and bigotry.
it's a dark day for human rights.

In Seattle, organizers are warning of a growing crisis as more and more trans refugees seek to escape red states. Mutual aid networks of "broke trans people helping broke trans people" are being overwhelmed, and one organizer @evanurquhart.bsky.social spoke with is facing eviction herself.

This is ridiculous. The easiest, least painful solution to implement would have been to pass legislation to slap down the improper FWS ruling and re-establish what the EA2010 says both in its actual text and in the contextual documentation that UKSC conveniently disregarded. You manufactured this.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

1. The Republican Party's panic over Sarah McBride in a bathroom shows it was never about sports or kids. They cannot help but to indulge in its cruelest impulses when a transgender person becomes an equal. Now, Dems have an opportunity to flip the script. Subscribe to support my journalism.

Opinion: Republican Bathroom Panic Over McBride Shows It Was Never About Sports Or Kids
Republicans are in a frenzy over trans Congresswoman Sarah McBride, following a debate among Democrats about compromising on trans rights. Today’s events make clear the folly of such a decision.
