Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.

These are the federal agencies detaining people across the US – mostly, but not all, under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security.
A tree showing the agencies under the Department of Homeland Security.

It includes ICE (broken down into Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO)), and Customs and Border Patrol (with its descendant organization Border Patrol).

Non DHS agencies that are sometimes involved include the FBI, DEA, and ATF.

Power outages are certain for some, especially in areas where the heaviest ice will accumulate on trees and powerlines. The cold can be deadly--but even without power, there are still ways to warm things up. Learn more about winter safety: weather.gov/safety/winter
Staying warm when the power is out.

Visuals of a home floor plan and a person on a sofa highlight safety tips:
- Close blinds or curtains to keep in some heat
- Close off rooms to avoid wasting heat,
- Stuff towels or rags in cracks under doors
- Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing
- Eat and drink. Food provides energy to warm the body. Avoid caffeine and alcohol.

COVID-19: "As of November 11, 2025, we estimate that COVID-19 infections are growing or likely growing in 20 states, declining or likely declining in 9 states, and not changing in 18 states." Source: www.cdc.gov/cfa-modeling...
A CDC map of the United States shows estimated COVID-19 epidemic trends as of November 11, 2025. States are color-coded: dark purple for “Growing,” light purple for “Likely Growing,” gray for “Not Changing,” teal for “Likely Declining,” dark teal for “Declining,” and white for “Not Estimated.” Much of the Midwest, South, and Northeast are shaded in purple tones, indicating growing or likely growing COVID-19 spread. Western states show more teal, indicating declining trends. A box below the map summarizes national data: COVID-19 emergency-department visits are very low, and the national trend is “not changing,” with an Rₜ estimate of 1.01.

NEWS: We may be witnessing the formation of a new supermassive black hole. #NASAWebb shows the Infinity Galaxy has a growing black hole between two galactic nuclei. It may have formed there through direct collapse of a gas cloud: webbtelescope.pub/4nQlWwI 🔭 🧪
A pair of distant galaxies that form the rough shape of an infinity symbol seen at roughly a 45-degree angle. Two overlapping, fuzzy rings with brighter blue patches are at upper right and lower left. At the center of each ring is a bright yellow blob, which is the nucleus. Where the two rings overlap on the left side, there is a mottled green patch of glowing gas midway between the two yellow nuclei. It is offset slightly to the left. Orange contours are overlaid on the galaxies. The contours are egg-shaped and centered on the green patch between the two galaxies.

📝Ocean Dissolved Oxygen?🌊🤓 Do you know what it is❓ We are gonna talk about some general concepts we will use in future posts to talk about past ocean oxygenation. Scientists use special equipment to measure DO in modern oceans. @pages-ipo.bsky.social
It is measured in μmol/kg (micromoles/ kilogram): the concentration of oxygen molecules (O2) in a kilogram of water. Solubility plays an important role in the amount of dissolved oxygen in ocean waters. It increases when ocean waters are colder, with lower pressure and low salinity.

A sprawling, textured field of galaxies scattered across the deep black of space. It is filled with the delicate smudges and glowing cores of galaxies of many shapes, sizes and colors, as well as the bright multi-colored points of stars. The image focuses on a collection of interacting galaxies connected by delicate streams of stars. At top center lies a large elliptical galaxy that is dense and smooth, like a polished stone glowing with golden light. Like delicate spider silk or stretched taffy, these stellar bridges link the large elliptical to the few larger galaxies beneath, evidence of past collisions.

All throughout the image, thousands of galaxies gather in clusters or are spread throughout, like glittering gems strewn on a table. Some are sharp-edged and spiral, like coiled ribbons; others round and diffuse, like polished pebbles. Still others are just smudges of various colors against the black of space. The background is peppered with pinpoint stars in reds, yellows, and blues, crisp against the velvet black. A cosmic tapestry of glowing tan and pink gas clouds with dark dust lanes. In the upper right, the Trifid Nebula resembles a small flower in space. Its soft, pinkish gas petals are surrounded by blue gas, and streaked with dark, finger-like veins of dust that divide it into three parts. It radiates a gentle, misty glow, diffuse and soft like the warmth of breath on a cold hand. To the lower left, the much larger Lagoon Nebula stretches wide like a churning sea of magenta gas, with bright blue, knotted clumps sprinkled throughout where new stars are born. Both nebulae are embedded in a soft tan backdrop of gas that is brighter on the left than on the right, etched with dark tendrils of dust and sprinkled with the pinpricks of millions of stars.A sprawling, textured field of galaxies scattered across the deep black of space.
