Feeling nostalgic seeing all these OoT previews. Back in 1997, I played the first-ever playable demo of the N64 game at Spaceworld, then met Miyamoto-san for the first time the next day. Was also at the first press demo at NOA HQ a month or two before release. And of course reviewed for EGM.

I always tell narrative folks you can get smarter by going under the hood and knowing how to hook things up. You learn how all the pieces fit, and it inspires you see what you can squeeze out of the engine. Letting the machine to do it blunts your language, creativity, and your curiosity.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The first 3D Zelda game was the one where I felt like that video games were awesome. Sets up the Hero’s Journey near perfectly in structure. The world, the characters, and the final act. I can’t wait to experience it all over again on the Switch 2 remake.

1 - everyone can run a business (but not everyone should) 2 - if you want to start a studio, you need to have someone who can run the business while you run the game dev (it’s very hard to do both) 3 - juniors need guidance and mentorship ACROSS disciplines; they won’t get that as entrepreneurs
