The reason the spires are there is to keep the sky at bay.

The front shows the Down Cathedral in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. The photo shows the cathedral centered with trees obscuring on either side, the colors dark greens and light browns, with a bright blue segment directly above the cathedral. The various sharp spires of the cathedral are highlighted against the sky.

The back reads: The reason the spires are there is to keep the sky at bay. When it falls, the threat of impalement will force it back up again. Why did no one tell you of this fact? Well, think of the mass panic ensuing when the entire world realizes the sky is just the roof of a mouth waiting to chew us all into mush. That is why you're only being informed of this now that you're taking over care of the cathedral. At night, when no one is paying attention, the sky patiently grinds away at the spires, gently, so it doesn't hurt itself, but even the slowest, lightest effort will eventually wear away the stone. Think of those stone stairways centuries old with dips in the middle where countless people have stepped, each foot taking the smallest bit away. Now think of the sky.

5 years ago today, Friday the 13th, March 2020, I chose to leave animation, after becoming so burnt out that, honestly, to this day I'm not entirely over it. (Dw, im fine) Roughly a week later the world collapsed, and things just kinda kept getting strange from then on. 1/

I am grateful I moved to Bluesky early on. Twitter was my home, and hard as it was to face it, it was being set on fire. Bluesky has been the best of the apps ever since, with its focus on text and its wide reader community. It has its flaws, but I'm glad it's here.
