I'd go even further arguing that (in my experience, at least) the narrower the range of games you engage with (in terms of genre, age, platform etc), the likelier you are to be seen/describe yourself as a "gamer".

Fantastic deck-builder that's (Shock! Horror!), not a roguelite. Oozing atmosphere, a touching story, and a finely tuned combat system based on deliberate card-crafting (rather than random rewards) and tactical positioning, not unlike Into the Breach. Arriving late but probably my GOTY for 2025.

And there are so many little details which contribute to that: the detailed sprites (those sharks are among my favourites from the 8-bit era), the sense of depth, the slowly depleting oxygen bar. One of the first games to truly capture the sense of awe and fear associated with the abyss.
