We want to deliver quality games, but the constant crunch and the lingering threat of layoffs at Wizards keeps us from delivering our best work. Join D&D's Joey Haeck in calling for Wizards to recognize our union and sign our petition. actionnetwork.org/forms/uwotcp...
“The workers of Wizards of the Coast are scared of regular crunch and sudden layoffs, and they have been for years. I'm organizing because scared workers are neither happy nor productive. By organizing to negotiate a fair contract on issues of layoff protections, forced relocation protections, equitable pay and career advancement, mandatory AI use protections, parental support, and more, we make our game better by investing in our human creators and resisting the churn and brain drain caused by roller-coaster layoffs.”

This morning, the federal government turned the full force of the Department of Homeland Security against a sitting member of Congress for the offense of disagreeing with the White House.

The path to citizenship should not be weaponized against anyone, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, a naturalized American who swore an oath to this country — the same one that I took.

The promise of citizenship should not be contingent on someone agreeing with the federal government.

Instead of AI, why didn't they partner with major MFA in film schools like USC, NYU, AFI, etc. and option book rights to them for graduate theses, while working with the students to maintain creative control and help to train the next generation of storytellers, if the studios are dicking them over?

Just take the Rotting Fist feature from Mummy Lord, but put the curse removal behind Wish instead of Remove Curse or Greater Restoration. "the target can’t regain Hit Points, it gains no benefit from finishing a Long Rest, and its Hit Point maximum decreases by 10 (3d6) every 24 hours that elapse.'

In Infinite Universe Theory, it is hypothesized there are repeating patterns, meaning that there are potentially infinite identical copies of everything. So maybe one of those copies finds its way to Sigil and to a different Crystal Sphere than the playtest is in, and now she can live and breathe?

I know the 5e Shadow has a reversible Strength drain feature, but, because it can be recovered from, I will play my character as if it didn't know that until the first time it got hit by it. If encountered by the same character again, then it is reasonable that they would be wary, but not before.

I would add that having monsters with effects like the AD&D Wight encourage (reward) metagaming, in the negative sense of the word, by players. For 5e players, I think it is a lot easier for them to operate on a "what my character would know" basis, even if a monster has a nasty effect.

I did this for the campaign I am currently playing in. Level 13 Imposter feature for Assassin wasn’t a fit for the campaign, so I asked our DM if he would be willing to come up with an alternative, several levels before I reached it, so they had time to homebrew something else that would be useful.

D20 roll over is more convoluted than OD&D... and that globe on Gary's desk tells you that the earth is flat. OD&D was a collection of actuarial tables compiled into a rough framework of a game where you had to know all the math in order to do anything. You are confusing marketing with complexity.

Another good tip in complex battles is to pool minions by type (like Draw Steel) and resolve them all on the same turn. Also, hand over control of allied NPCs to more experienced players or players with low complexity character turns to run, ideally with a few initiative counts separating the turns.

I feel like making your character a singular focus can lead to Main Character Syndrome. I would be more inclined to suggest making your party a singular focus. That way you are aware of other characters goals, traits, and objectives, and know how your character can act collaboratively in support.

I thought the new Arcana Unleashed Conjurer Archmage stat block would fix this, but it doesn't have a single Conjure ___ or Summon ___ spell on its spell list. So it would be up to the DM to "fix this" during their prep, which doesn't feel like good design if you have an eye on ease for new players.

As long as the DM has an ounce of talent with pacing, there's no reason not to split the party. The play fantasy around Rogues and Rangers is often to scout ahead, but when you try to do that, people just repeat the hackneyed "Don't split the party!" and those players character abilities are wasted.
