No one should be locked into a choice they made as a teenager. After a 15 year career in finance, I returned to @huntercollege.bsky.social for a second degree in Biology & then a PhD from @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social. I now teach as an Adjunct in the Biology Dept at Hunter. CUNY made it possible.

The colonialism, bioessentialism, and misogyny baked into the historical foundations of gaming are all extremely wrong ways to play, and the stories we create through RPGs are better for recognizing that.

These are bloodsports. There is no safe football. We need to stop consuming it, removing the financial incentive to irrevocably harm peoples lives. This is just looking at the NFL. No one is looking at the College and HS players that never made it that are likely suffering with the effects of CTE.

One thing I will quibble with is that technologies are only inevitable if WE allow them to be. If we elect leaders with the courage to regulate, we can get the djinni back in the bottle. We used to have lead in our gas, unsanitary food supplies, and arsenic in our wallpaper, but we regulated safety.
