Climate criminals, arms dealers, bankers and pharma CEOs once again top the list of excessive executive pay. But the trend is even darker - the gap between what workers are paid and what CEOs get is growing. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

I ask Sadiq Khan about new oil and gas on Thursday: he refuses to answer properly. By the afternoon: we find out he's a Labour Lord. 48 hours later: we find out Labour are pushing ahead with this climate crime. We cannot trust Labour to tackle the climate crisis.

So Andy Burnham has repeatedly committed to sticking to Labour's 2024 manifesto, yet we're now told that his first major announcement will be breaking its commitment not to drill for new oil and gas in the North Sea.

They know, we know, they know we know, we know they know. This is all a bunch of choices made that if you are powerful enough hurt enough people all at once the violence inherent in this becomes so diffuse it can be hard to identify victims well enough to arrange for a suitable self defence.

Here's someone who makes a big, bold and very popular promise, then actually delivers it. Why do other supposedly-leftwing administrations find this so hard? (Actually, that's a rhetorical question: they deliver for their funders and the rest of the oligarch class, ahead of their voters).

A lot of the commentary seems to completely miss the reality that this is a man who lied to the whole Labour membership to get himself elected. This is not some complicated psycho drama. The man's a liar. He appointed Mandi because he thought he'd be useful precisely because of the sleaze. Spare me.

After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.
Screenshot of an X.com post by The Associated Press (@AP) stating that dozens of immigrant families protested for better treatment behind fences at a Texas detention facility, where a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy and his father were sent after being detained in Minnesota. Below is a video thumbnail showing a crowd gathered outdoors along a fenced walkway; many people wear bright blue or red outerwear, and some hold signs.

Here's a podcast that does a good job of laying out what's at stake, and why all of us need to get off the sidelines to demand change. This four-panel comic strip depicts a humorous yet dark scenario. In the first two panels, two hands are seen reaching out of the water, suggesting someone is drowning and calling for help. The third panel shows another hand reaching down, implying an attempt to provide assistance or a high-five gesture. However, in the final panel, the hand that was reaching out is now submerged underwater with only a few air bubbles visible, suggesting the drowning person did not receive the intended help and met an unfortunate fate. While morbid, the comic employs dark humor to comment on misunderstandings or missed opportunities for aid in dire situations.
