Plugging in modern, renewable-powered electrotech to cut oil and gas dependence is a vital strategy to fortify British energy bills. Here are five key factors shaping this shift to electro-fortification 👇 🧵 1/6

#1: Exposure 🛡️ The UK has cut fossil fuels for electricity, but homes remain dependent on oil and gas for heating and transport. This exposes every household to ongoing global price shocks and inflation. 2/6

#2: Benefits ⚡ Clean electrotech brings: ✅ Daily fuel cost savings 📉 Clean air and lower carbon emissions 💷 A buffer against price volatility 🏠 Improved home comfort. Modern electric homes are 10x better protected from price shocks, with lower bills and less pollution. 3/6

#3: Uptake 🏠 Homes are already transitioning in response to recent energy crises. ☀️ Over 60 constituencies have rooftop solar on over 10% of all homes – up from just 5 in 2022, 🔋 and home batteries are present in roughly HALF of all new UK home solar installations. 4/6

#4: Regional strengths 🗺️ A place-based approach, playing to local strengths and unlocking local barriers, can accelerate the transition and deliver benefits faster. For example, targeting heat pump deployment at the 4.8 million homes off the gas grid can accelerate uptake.

Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: The electro-fortification of Britain: the next national technology transition. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.
The UK has rapidly decarbonised its electricity system, yet most households still depend on fossil fuels for transport and heating. Reducing that dependence is the best way to protect families from international energy price shocks and cut emissions. With some parts of Britain already leading the way, the next decade offers a major opportunity to scale up electric technologies nationwide. In the webinar launching Ember’s new analysis, we’ll explore: - which parts of Britain are benefiting most from new electric technologies, - where the easiest wins lie in the next phase of the energy transition, - and how solar, batteries, electric vehicles and heat pumps can cut bills and emissions while making homes more resilient.

📣Call to action📣 National Therapy Bodies are consulting on professional guidelines re conversion practices www.pcpb.org.uk/consultation... These are especially important given this clause 👇 in the draft Conversion Practices Bill. People with lived experience & members of the public can respond 1/
(3) Conduct which—

(a) is carried out by a person towards an individual with such an intention, but
(b) is carried out in the course of providing health care services to the individual concerned,
is not a conversion practice unless the person acts in a way that falls far below the standards reasonably expected of a person in their position.Consultation opens into conversion practices and GSRD guidelines

A 12-week consultation has opened on work to define conversion practices and set out good practice principles for psychological professionals working with gender, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD).

The work is being carried out by the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and is led by an independent development team. All participating organisations are clear in their opposition to conversion practices.

The consultation opens on Tuesday 25 August 2026 and closes at midday on Tuesday 17 November 2026.

Draft materials are available to view in the resources section of the PCPB website, including a form to complete to submit your feedback. They are also available to download on the links below.
