You write to your love, and I’ll write to mine 2.9.26 #comingsoon #folksongs #britishfolk #indiefolk #cinematicfolk

In a sunny & bucolic field Josienne Clarke, in a white cotton dress, lifts herself horizontally upon a grand old wooden chair, her hair falls over her face her brown victorian boots in the air. This is a blurred image of movement a strange folk ritual in a timeless field.

I’ll probably write more about this later, but the new short film by @josienneclarke.com and @alecbowmanclarke.com is beautiful and why I’m so proud to be associated with the pair of them, and delighted to have Josienne’s music in Broken Veil. This is the arts right now. youtu.be/fvnDbv77Sqs

My latest single, a cover of Sandy Denny's Classic tale of the captivity & eventual execution of Mary Queen Of Scots at Fotheringhay castle. ffm.to/Fotheringay 📸 @alecbowmanclarke.com

Josienne Clarke gazes intensely into a large wooden mirror, sat in a large wooden chair, she is dressed in a majestic red dress with a medieval ruff and a pearl headband, with a gold chatelaine belt . She resembles a queen, the face in the mirror stares back at her with a resigned, sad and dignified expression.

Everything here is true, but my favourite thing about Broken Veil is the element often overlooked in all the well-deserved praise & analysis: the sheer humanity. For all the perfect acting, direction, storytelling, sound & design, it’s really just two friends, spending time together.

And here’s why we make this independently. Because this is the sort of pitch that will *never* get you a second meeting. It’s just what the story needs. Not what anyone’s long term brand strategy requires.

Love the beautiful cover photography from @alecbowmanclarke.com too.

CD insert photos - the first is a portrait of the artist, the second is the cover symbol carved on a tree, the third a close up of a bare winter branch, the fourth the cover symbol on the palm of a hand.
