After Young Marble Giants split, Alison Statton teamed up with Spike & Simon Booth to form Weekend. They made some fab jazzy pop songs which were released in the early 80s. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM1B... Sheet music: www.sheetmusicdirect.com/se/ID_No/224... #Weekend #Statton #transcription #jazz

Great gig today by the London Improvisors Orchestra, with some familiar faces. Free, in every sense. (Lousy mobile phone photo quality, as I'm unable to take proper photos at the moment) #jazz #improv #Southend #jazzcentre

The new @metoffice.gov.uk website design's so annoying. Previously all detailed info was visible on one screen. Now it seems to be designed for tablet viewing, pointlessly large fonts & boxes containing basic info. More detail requires clicking a link, and then setting zoom to 60% to see it all 🙄

I made a magazine published design for a 128-note sequencer, with a binary LED display in the 70s. Note/rest length was determined by multiple presses, stepping through the memory. Programming was tortuous, no memories of course, it put me off using a sequencer for life

Not entirely true, as the Dutch authorities, with the help of the British, really went out of their way to scupper Caroline's future with the 80s raid. Then the UK allocated London's Spectrum Radio Caroline's 558kHz. They were determined to silence them by whatever means. Excellent thread BTW.

Making a welcome change from the usual slew of emails on Bandcamp Friday, it's always a delight to have a message from Virginia Astley: "Apologies for not putting anything new up. I'd hoped to at least have a recording of something ... However, here's a picture of a Puffin." 😃

Another new internet receiver, the Majority Fitzwilliam. It uses the same firmware as their Bard radio, which isn't perfect, but still pretty good. This receiver is for use with Hi-Fi separates and has analogue, digital and optical audio outputs. It also does FM/DAB+/Bluetooth & auxillary in.

New internet radio, replacing my old ailing Roberts 93i stream radio. Seems like a rebadged and updated version of the latter, with slightly better functionality. A bit buggy, and unlike the 93i, there's no line level out, which is really annoying. #Majority #internetradio

A photos of my Majority Bard internet radio, showing the front panel. The display shows it 'tuned' to WFMU and Sheila B's Sophisticated Boom Boom show

Had a chat with vocalist Brigitte Beraha outside Cafe Oto last year, she recommended Kevin Figes' Wallpaper Music albums, the latest is the best IMO. My fave tracks remind me of Robert Wyatt and Art Bears, while this reminds me of Alison Statton in Weekend: kevinfiges1.bandcamp.com/track/the-bi...
