I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: It doesn’t feel right that most of the recognizable Western properties are controlled by either Disney or Skydance. Both companies should’ve never been allowed to get bigger by acquiring direct competitors.

I get what people are saying with the “Warner Bros curse” that happened with AOL, AT&T, and Discovery can happen to Paramount Skydance, but here’s a key difference: the past WB buyers had no business owning Hollywood assets. Paramount benefits directly in streaming with WB.

What I’ll say about the merger is just… please, let Paramount, Warner Bros, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network survive the madness. These four in particular have tons of classic history and iconic brandings close to my heart. I want them to survive for that and for the sake of jobs.

Definitely not happy the merger got approved, but I’m not gonna bow my head in despair. I’m still fighting for a brighter future for filmmaking no matter what and I know this merger will only hurt Ellison in the long run. No matter what, I’m still holding strong for good movies.

Paramount and WB are in a situation where, unlike Disney (who most viewers know own Marvel and Stars Wars alongside Disney-brand IPs), Paramount and WB don’t push their branding like that. At most, people connect Star Trek/Yellowstone with Paramount and DC Comics/Looney Tunes with WB.

One issue with the merger is that “Paramount” and “Warner Bros” are iconic and historical names. Picking one over the other is a disservice to the non-chosen name. Disney-Fox is different because “Disney” is clearly more known. I expect “Skydance” anyway given Paramount’s logo with the byline.

I’m pretty sure Little Bear is the Nelvana-Nickelodeon collab cartoon that Nick still has a significant stake in. Not only does Nick own the US broadcast, home media, and streaming rights, but they fully own the US theme song (which I had no idea was different from Canada).
