WOW. The ex-wife of the ICE officer who shot a 26-year-old Colombian man in Maine has come forward to say that he had mental health issues and was abusive in their relationship. She says after the shooting he called asking her to vouch for him — instead, she went to the press.
Ashley Brouillette told the Portland Press Herald in a phone interview Thursday afternoon that her ex-husband called admitting to the shooting and defending his actions. The Press Herald reviewed a screenshot of incoming calls Ashley Brouillette received from her ex-husband’s current wife’s Facebook account on Wednesday.

“He was asking me to lie for him and to cover for his character,” Ashley Brouillette said. “I told him that I was not going to lie for him. And then he tried to say that it was a justified shooting because the guy tried to hit him with his car.”

She said she has seen videos of Brouillette on the scene of the shooting and confirmed that was him on scene, telling him: “nowhere in there does it show that this man charged at you with a car.”

“In his head it’s justified. He’s unusually calm about it,” she said.Ashley Brouillette told a reporter that she wanted to speak publicly because she had previously reported concerns to his superiors in the military about his mental health. She said he was abusive in their relationship. She said that she’s been inundated with calls, since reports of Brouillette’s involvement began circulating online, threatening her and her family.

Nigel Farage says £5m gift from crypto billionaire is ‘not any of your business’
Reform leader says it is ‘purely private matter’ and it is not hypocritical to criticise Keir Starmer for receiving glasses * UK politics live – latest updates Nigel Farage has said his £5m gift from a crypto billionaire is “not any of your business”, saying the cash from the British Thai-based businessman Christopher Harborne was “a purely private matter”. The Reform UK leader also said it was not hypocritical of him to attack Keir Starmer for receiving donations of glasses and suits, because Starmer had been “the leader of the opposition and I was a presenter on GB News”. Gut bacteria could help block the rise of antibiotic-resistant superbugs | Imperial News | Imperial College London
New research shows antibiotics upset the gut microbiome, allowing drug-resistant pathogens to spread, but restoring microbial balance could stop them.

Antibiotics save lives- but also reshape the gut microbiome, unintentionally promoting VRE colonisation. This study reveals how antibiotic-driven metabolic shifts promote VRE expansion and highlights ...

V nice study this. VRE growth in gut microbiome relies on different short chain fatty acids, which are themselves modulated by antibiotic exposure. Complex but important to understand how antibiotic resistant bacteria persist in microbiome @natcomms.nature.com 🧪 #AMR #ClinMicro #IDSky #UTISky

Vancomycin-resistant 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙪𝙢 (VRE) thrives in the antibiotic-perturbed gut VRE gobbles up enriched sugars and amino acids, and loss of short-chain fatty acids (acetate, propionate, butyrate) eliminates natural growth brakes Therapeutic angle: Prebiotic SCFA mixtures block VRE growth!
